    I have a new Dell desktop, which my controller was working perfectly well on. A couple of days ago, I wanted to try out Bluetooth, so I unplugged the controller and ran a driver update on the Xbox accessories app. I couldn't get Bluetooth to work, so went
    back to the plugged in option - but suddenly my controller wasn't responding. I've gone through all the troubleshooting options on both the Xbox and Microsoft websites, and have talked with customer service via phone and chat at length. The closest anyone
    has come is to get new drivers downloaded onto my pc, but those have made no difference.

    When I ran the Windows devices & printers troubleshooting tool, it told me that the controller/cord was an older version that wouldn't work on a USB 3.0 and that I needed to plug it into a USB 2.0 port. However, not only have I checked that the port I'm
    using is a 2.0 (and I've tried the controller on several other systems with no luck there either), but it was previously working just fine, so I really don't think it's a port issue.

    The controller light is turning on, and the computer is making the little connection sound when I plug it in, yet the device manager and the Xbox accessories app don't seem to recognize it.

    Please comment below if you have any suggestions of what I could try next. I've looked at every website link I can find, so please don't just send me to the standard troubleshooting pages.

    Only thing I can suggest is unplug the controller from your computer, take any batteries out and leave it for a couple of minutes, then put the batteries back in and then plug it back into your computer. Ive had similar issue with the controller just "forgetting"
    how to communicate with the console, and the only way to fix it is what Ive described. I think doing this clears any settings that the controller may have in its memory (if it has memory) a bit like holding the power button down on the console to clear its
    cache.
