Issue with connecting to Live on Backwards Compatibility

So a friend has been getting disconnected from Xbox Live when he launches a Backwards Compatible game. He can connect to Xbox Live on the Xbox One just fine, but every time he launches a 360 game, he gets disconnected during the check on the splash for the
360 games (primarily Gears of War 3 and Halo: Reach). I've been looking into solutions such as reconnecting to Live in-game using the 360 Menu, reinstalling the game(s), and checking if he owns the game rather than he's downloading it from another account
on the console. All of them didn't help fix the issue.

So how can he fix the problem of getting disconnected from Xbox Live when launching a Backwards Compatible game?

I'm having a problem with backwards compatibility. My xbox live account disconnects from xbox live when I attempt to log in on the 360 menu on backwards compatibility for Xbox one.

When backward compatibility launches in November, all future Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles will be playable on Xbox One. That means Xbox Live Gold members now will get more free games to play each month on Xbox One.
