Issue with changing email to a gamertag

Hi there. I'm pretty sure this has been asked a gazillion times, but after a long search I didn't found a problem similar to mine.

I used to have a gamertag that I don't use associated with my personal email which I want to use with my real profile on my xbox 360. It is an offline profile but I want to join to xbox live with that email.

I created a new Microsoft mail account to move the old gamertag as Support page suggested and it was succesful. But now either I login with the new email or with the old one, both seems associated with that gamertag, hence I can't use my personal email to
join xbox live with my profile.

Is there any step I missed? Will I be able to use the old email for a new xbox live profile? Is there a way to remove the link between a mail and a profile?

Can you sign in Xbox live with a different E-mail account?

yeah just create a new email address, go to xbox.com and change the email associated with your gamertag. heres the lnk for you.

Even if you change your Gamertag, you purchases and saves are still locked to your account. I could change my gamertag right now and I still have everything. It stays with the email address you signed up with, not gamertag.

if a account seems to be connected to two email addresses (Microsoft Accounts) at the same time, I would advise you to contact Xbox Support via
support.xbox.com/contact-us so they can take a more indepth look and hopefully fix the issue.

You need to download both accounts to your Xbox 360 console and wait for 30 days before you can process the transfer of gamertag to different Microsoft email address.

After 30 days, you can already transfer your gamertag to different Microsoft email address.

Could you please explain your issue a bit more?

Are you sure you are using the same email as before? Most cases that come up in this forum are people that some time ago changed their email address, and now sign in with their new address, which will give them a new Gamertag. If you still have the old Gamertag
on a console, check if the email for that Gamertag has been changed.

If the Gamertag was really changed, it's for two reasons:

Your Gamertag violated the Code of Conduct, was reported by someone, and the Enforcement Team changed it.

Or you didn't sign into your Microsoft Account for more than 5 years, and the Gamertag expired and was changed to a random Gamertag.

If the account is connected to his email address then there is no issue. He can keep or change the Xbox gamertag without any issue.

Sorry, but you will have to create a new dummy email address to shift to the new account so you can free up the one you want to use.
