Issue redeeming Xbox Live Gold from code

I've been getting the "Something went wrong" error when redeeming my 12 Month Xbox Live Gold code from xbox.com and the "Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred" message when redeeming from the console (Xbox One). I've been having this problem for a week
now. The Chat Techs say "It's a known issue, try again in 24 hours" every time. Today a tech deactivated my code and gave me a new one, which still didn't work. They told me to try again in 24 hours. A 2nd tech gave me a case number, had me restart my console
(and keep my games and apps), unplug everything for 2 mins, then attempt to redeem the code, which still didn't work. They told me to try again in 24 hours. I've been waiting 24 hours for a week now - anyone else having this issue?

I still have this problem today (1/1/17, original post 12/30/16). I chatted with a tech, they said: "Just a heads up in here Vicente, we are having a service alert on redeeming code that might be the cause of the inconvenience that you are experiencing this
time. And would like apologize for this situation that you are having right now. But no worries our system engineers are now currently working on this matter and it should be back to its normalstate after a few hours." I asked when it will be fixed, they said:
"Best thing that we need to do right now is to wait for 24 hours and then try to redeem the code again." Anyone else seeing this?

Do you also have an active subscription? If yes, another option you have is to wait for it to end before redeeming a new one.

 

My subscription is not suspended, I don't have a past due balance, and I don't have an active subscription. I've tried all kinds of troubleshooting over the past week and 5 days. I still had the problem today and today's tech said it's a known issue (again),
lots of members are having it, and please try again later..

 

Yes, I'm having similar issues redeeming an xbox live gold code these days. And I wish Tech supporter could fix this bug quickly.

 

I have the same issue. Bought the XBOX Live Gold 12 month subscription with the Battlefield 1 bundle this Thanksgiving. My son tried to redeem the code on Christmas and it didn't work. Got the "something went wrong" message. I was out of town then. When
I came back, I tried it on Jan 6, 2017 and the same problem still exists. I tried today Jan 7 and it is the same problem.

Worked with a technician using live chat and they gave me the same reason: They acknowledged there is a problem with code redemption, their engineers were working on it and did not have an ETA for the fix and wanted me to tray again later.

I don't think it is a temporary glitch that someone is actually trying to fix. It hasn't worked at all for me and I can see that there are more users like me.

 

Yes, Having the same problem here. Been trying to redeem the code for several days. Account isn't suspended and there isn't a balance. Just get the "something went wrong" message. Very Frustrating.

 

I'm having the same issue. All the tech would say its a "known issue". If its a known issue why the heck they cant fix it. Very Very Poor customer service. They would generate a ticket and takes 24 to 48 hours .. WTX !!!!!

same issue here i couldn't download the redeem codes i get it with Xbox 360 , if i couldn't test the free games that came with this xbox how we can guarantee the purchased games will work !!!!

Really frustrated and disappointed from this issue and support effort to solve this issue...

at the end i realized that my mistake that i didn't go to Play Station !!!
