    Issue playing Downloaded game


    My brother got Thief back when it was free from the gold games last year, the system it was originally downloaded to was lost in a fire at the end of november. We have since replaced the system and downloaded it again, now only his profile can play it. Is
    their anyway to enable all our profiles to play it or is it strictly bound to his profile? We have never really had to deal with this kind of thing before, since before last summer he had never downloaded any games before. Thank you for any advice thrown my
    way.

    Nothing you have on your drive will be affecting that game.

    I would look online to see if anyone else has had the issue, and a possible fix.

    My version was on a disc, i had no problems.

    Ask him to, with his profile, go into Settings and make the new console his "Home Xbox". This will allow all profiles on that console to play all the digital games he owns.

    To add to Maxen's post - He'll want to follow the following process on the 360 to do the license transfer:

    While signed into his profile - Settings > Account > Your billing options > Select License Transfer

    Awesome!!! Oh man I'm so excited this worked for you. I threw my hands in the air and went, "WOOO!!" and Mister Ohnaka looked over at me like I was crazy until I explained why I was so excited. =D

    To clarify about the license transfer thing (just so you know for future reference): Onyx is totally right. License transfers are used to transfer ownership of content between consoles (but not users). What I mean is: Let's say you get a new console. You perform
    a license transfer from Console A to Console B so that you can have ownership of all of your old content on your new console.

    No harm done since you didn't do this, I just wanted to clarify so anyone reading this thread would understand.

    At any rate, again, I'm seriously happy this worked for you. I know it was a pain to jump through so many hoops so you can play your game, but hey...I'll take it and chalk it up as a win for us. ^_^

    Wow i did not know that good job i used Mister Cerb method first so he downloaded his account and we tried the level and it worked but i thought licence transfere allows you to use your content on other xboxes when you signed in.

    Hey again manwidsword! I'm sad that my tip didn't work. My thought process was to have you try the game again with a fresh download and a fresh save (since you wouldn't have your hard drive plugged in) just in case something funky happened with your save to
    make it crash. Looks like that didn't work though, but at least we tried.

    I would absolutely give Spyral's post a look and a try if that is indeed the mission you're having trouble with. Definitely let us know either way and we'll keep working with you from there to see what we can do to get you through this trouble spot and on to
    the rest of your game. ^_^

    I know :) glad it worked, i was getting sick and tired of the game crashing and me being unable to play the game.
