Issue Playing Backwards Compatible Games

I recently bought an unopened copy of Doom 3: BFG Edition for XBOX 360 upon hearing that it was a backwards compatible title.

However, when i put the disk in, a notification said a 9 GB update was necessary. I agreed, but then nothing happened. I don't see any update downloading or installing. There is a an option to install disc in the dock, but selecting it does nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

i too am seeing the same issue it does not make playing backwards compatible games any fun when you cant increase your gamer score.

Doom 3:BFG edition is not on the list as far as I can tell. Doom 3, Doom 3 Limited collectors edition, and Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil are all on the list but The BFG edition is not. en.wikipedia.org/.../List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360

Sorry but it's not on the lists.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses but I can assure you it is on the list.

Those links are both for original XBOX games that are playable on the 360.

Doom 3: BFG edition is an XBOX 360 game that, according to the xbox website is backwards compatible on the XBOX one. I should have clarified the systems in the original post.

If the 360 game is a backward-compatible game updating or playing the game will not be an issue, Arpeggio66.

The game you are trying to play is not "Backward Compatible" with the Xbox360 Console. There is no update to solve this issue. Go to

Just pop your game disc into your Xbox One. If a digital game you bought is compatible with Xbox One, look for it in your games list under
Ready to install.

The backwards compatibility program has ended now so if a game isn't backwards compatible now it wont be added so there's no way to play it on current consoles.

The game you mentioned probably wasn't added due to licensing issues.
