    Hello,

    I got Xbox game pass today and downloaded several games (Mortal Shell, Grounded, and Age of Empires 4); whenever I try to launch any of them after they have been installed, I receive this message:

    Age of Empires IV is currently not available in your account. Make sure you are signed in to the Store and try again. Here’s the error code, in case you need it: 0x803F8001

    It is very frustrating as I don’t get a lot of time to play and instead have spent most of today dealing with this same issue.

    Attempted Fixes:

    Reinstall games: Failed

    Restart Computer: Failed

    Check for updates: Updated everything and still failed

    Tried moving install location: Failed

    These are my system specs if it matters:

    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz

    Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)

    System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

    Edition Windows 11 Pro

    Version 21H2

    Well, I am back again, I made a post but a mod came and removed it. I really don't know what to do and at this point I don't feel like I am doing anything wrong. Is there actual technical support that I can go to? I really just want to play games and relax in my spare time but Microsoft as it stands is making it impossible. Do you have anywhere else that I can go?

    Hello Vinicius,

    I tried following your solution mentioned above, and the problem persists. Games not launching only happen when using the Xbox app or the Microsoft store (I have attempted to both repeatedly) Steam, Epic Games, and Origin all run games without issue.

    Here are screenshots of the process if it helps. I will also be uninstalling and reinstalling the Xbox app to see if the issue persists there. I am also attempting to see if it happens on my partner's computer as I got her the game pass yesterday.

    The red play button is most notable instead of green; unfortunately, it only worsens as the "get help with this" doesn't help me.

    The message occurs when I click on the play button; the error code is either very new or uncommon; otherwise, I would usually find a solution online (Microsoft tends to be good about that, but I guess this is a particular case).

    The only thing that the "get help with this" option does is open the Microsoft store and take me to the same page again.

    To re-iterate, I have followed your instructions spanned over 5-6 restarts to no-avail, as well as the solutions mentioned above that I attempted earlier. After this post, I will be reinstalling the Xbox app to see if that works.

    My above-all fear is that this issue will be drawn out for an extended period or need external support as I am in the middle of finals and my free time is minimal; spending it trying to fix issues is certainly not ideal.

    EDIT:

    Attempting to reset, repair, and reinstall did not solve the issue.

    EDIT#2:

    I spoke with someone that works with issues like these quite a bit, and they stated, "I feel like that has something to do with it, some license mismatch."

    They didn't have a fix, and I am not sure where to go from there. My Xbox account is different from the Microsoft account that I sign in to on my computer. The Microsoft Store account and the Xbox app account are both the same, though.

    That's odd. Ok, Shadow, I'm so sorry for that to happen. So, I took the liberty and tested the app yesterday on my Mac, running parallells, and it actually runs smoothly, and I was able to download a few games and test them as well.

    Shadow, at this stage, I do advise you try to do a factory reset on your PC, but, first, do a backup of all of your data.
