  1. Issue Accessing Minecraft on Xbox After Purchasing Java Edition

    Hello,

I purchased Minecraft Java Edition, which included access to the original Minecraft for Xbox. I was able to play it on my previous Xbox without any issues.

Recently, I got a new Xbox, but when I try to download Minecraft on it, I’m told that I need to purchase the game again—even though I already own it through the Java Edition bundle.

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

    Thank you,

    David

    :)

    Minecraft question

    Hi,

Minecraft Java Edition can be purchased from thier store page using your Microsoft Account:

    https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-edition

And then being accessed with the (free) Minecraft Launcher on the Microsoft Store.

Both Windows and Java Editions are included with Xbox Game Pass for PC/Ultimate subscription.

Bought Minecraft java and bedrock together a long time ago, but I recently found out that I can't play java.

Hello Javie Jumuad, thank you for reaching out to Xbox Support. I understand that you are having trouble accessing Minecraft Java edition even though you purchased it along with the Bedrock edition.

To clarify, Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions are two separate versions of the game and require separate purchases. If you have purchased both versions separately, you should be able to access them using the same account.

However, if you purchased a "2 in 1" pack, it is possible that you only received the Bedrock edition and not the Java edition. In this case, you will need to purchase the Java edition separately.

If you believe that you have purchased the Java edition and are unable to access it, I recommend checking your purchase history on the account used to make the purchase. If you are still unable to access the Java edition, please contact Minecraft support for further assistance.

I hope this information helps. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

How to get Minecraft Java with Bedrock Edition

    Hi Cavan Johnsen,

Welcome to Microsoft Xbox Community Forum. I understand that you are trying to get Minecraft Java with Bedrock Edition, and you have Minecraft Bedrock for PC, but you are unable to access the Java tab. I'll be happy to assist you with this.

Firstly, it's important to note that Minecraft Java and Minecraft Bedrock are two separate versions of the game. Minecraft Java is the original version of the game, while Minecraft Bedrock is the cross-platform version of the game that is available on multiple devices.

To get Minecraft Java with Bedrock Edition, you will need to purchase Minecraft Java separately. You can purchase Minecraft Java from the official Minecraft website. Once you have purchased Minecraft Java, you will be able to access the Bedrock Edition by logging into your Microsoft account and downloading the game from the Microsoft Store. However, if you have purchased Minecraft Bedrock Edition before June 6th, 2022, you are eligible to redeem a free copy of Minecraft Java Edition from the official website. Here are the steps to do so:

    1. Go to Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC Standard Edition and log in with your Microsoft account.

    2. Click on "Redeem a copy" and follow the instructions to claim your code.

    3. Download the Minecraft Launcher for Windows from https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download and install it on your PC.

    4. Sign into the Launcher using your Microsoft account, and you will be able to run Java Edition.

If you are unable to access the Java tab on the Minecraft launcher, it could be due to a few reasons. One possible reason is that you may not have purchased Minecraft Java yet. Another possible reason is that you may not have logged into your Minecraft account on the launcher.

To log into your Minecraft account on the launcher, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Minecraft launcher.

    2. Click on the "Settings" button.

    3. Click on the "Accounts" tab.

    4. Enter your Minecraft account email and password.

    5. Click on the "Save" button.

Once you have logged into your Minecraft account on the launcher, you should be able to access the Java tab and purchase Minecraft Java.

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Kind regards,

    Marrion

Issue Accessing Minecraft on Xbox After Purchasing Java Edition

Hello and welcome to our community!

We’re excited to have you here and have great conversations! I'd be happy to be of assistance.

I’m sorry to hear about the confusion regarding your Minecraft version.

There are actually two main versions of Minecraft: one for Xbox consoles and one for PC (Windows). If you own the Java Edition on PC, it is bundled with the Bedrock Edition for PC only but this does not include access to the Xbox version.

The Xbox version of Minecraft is a separate purchase, as it runs on a different platform and license. If you’d like to play on your Xbox console, you’ll need to buy Minecraft for Xbox through the Xbox Store.

This is the Xbox version- https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/minecraf...

This is the Windows PC version - https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/minecraf...

If you previously purchased and played this game on Xbox, please check your license by signing in to your order history here: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/order

Once signed in, look for the completed game purchase or the redeemed code, then click on the corresponding image or title. This will redirect you to a detailed page for that specific item. From that page, please copy and share the URL with me so I can help verify the exact version of the game you've purchased.

    Looking forward to your response.
