Is Xbox One Useless for Me?

^^ I don't know many people that think they get a great deal when trading in games in stores, does any one have a link to the original policy, I can never find one, only articles about it, and opinions on it, I would really like to read the actual policy.

Xbox One - Useless for the Armed Forces

Hmm. This is a big downside, to not allow the brave men and women who are oversees in remote locations not be able to have some entertainment. If this is the case, I would suggest PS4's for the armed forces :/. Would be good to get some more info/clarification,
there seems to be a lot of conflicting stories.

 

How to renew xbox live

I bought the original Xbox live one year membership with one of those cards you get at best buy. Now a year is up and it expired. Is there anyway to get my old gamertag and renew the membership? The Xbox.com/support site is useless. Does anybody know
how to contact someone at Microsoft about this? The whole Xbox live website is pretty useless actually. And I wasn't warned on the Xbox dashboard about my account expiring. In that sense, the Xbox dashboard is quite useless too.

Honestly, I did not know the Xbox One was designed for online gaming.

My son was going bananas because he wanted Assassin's Creed Syndicate (he already had an older one for the 360 at his mom's house). I also noticed the newer games were for the Xbox One.

I just figured it was the newest and best platform.

 

You may find it on the wayback machine but I'm fairly sure Microsoft removed all official pieces of it when the backlash began.

You should be able to find much of the info through interviews with former Xbox head Don Mattrick, such as this one video

It doesn't take long to find unless you don't want to.

Edit: JP it wasn't that it required an internet connection, it was that it would stop you from playing if you couldn't get a connection for 24 hours, which unfortunately does still happen in parts of the country or for those on active military service. But
hey that's ok, as Don says, they've got the Xbox 360.

Yes because the press are well known for the facts, that article doesn't offer the facts or any hard information, I would really like to be able to read the actual docs, before I defend or attack something, instead of going of what people think it says.

The xbox one still needs an internet connection anyone buying it without are really not making an informed choice IMO, and I don't think its a bad statement made in the video at 1.35 but you could say that about modern tech, phones, pc's tablets, even TV's
now.

Oh well.

Some of us are smart enough to use sites like eBay, Amazon, etc to sell their unwanted games. ;-)

And this was part of the epic fail by Microsoft on behalf of the launch of the Xbox One. Microsoft never released Official Terms in regards. They released a lot of pr speak that did way more damage then good but never any actual
Documents that would describe the terms.

 

^^^ I will certainly agree MS didn't handle the the situation very well, I mean there are in inconsistencies in this thread alone, your saying the docs were never released and Ultimate is saying (or seems to be saying), i haven't look hard enough or/and
have been removed.

 

All you had to do is to have read the threads just before the X1 released to know that along with a 24 hour ck in, came the innability to sell/trade/lend you're used games... That debate went on here for some time.... (switched/deleted most posts since then)
Until E3 when Sony steped up and said. "Here is how you share a PS4 game." - E3 2013 i think.

Then MS gave one the hachet treatment, (CEO's and/or public figures are often paid good to."Take 1 for the team.")put Spencer out there and has been doing the backstroke ever since.

So thanks to Sony, MS's 24 hour check in, and used game policies went the way of the Doo Doo. Extinct!

But like I said b4, by the time MS changed their view. The damage was already done. PS4 sales took off, and these forums kept dwindeling down to the almost nothing they are today.

 

Reading threads on a forum comes with the same issues as reading articles, its not first hand information and is in the main write with opinion and bias.

You post is a good example, you added bits which make it look very one sided but MS did have alternatives to the traditional sell/trade/lend, which all work on PC and have done for some time, or from what I have red they did but I can't find any original
docs to support it.

Also 24 hour check in to me isn't a massive issue, depending on how it worked, which is my point I want to know how it was going to work, not some opinion on what they think.

MS didn't need to change their view, they needed to tweek their policies to suit the user, 24 hour checking 365 days a year is impossible on the base of it, bt being connected to the internet for most things isn't out of possibility, which is the case anyway,
and they also had to explain them better and defend there views.

As pointed out above, reading Threads from Users is not what the Policy was going to be. Those would be Users Opinions and Conjecture. Here is a perfect example of bias User Opinion, you specifically state "you're" (I believe you
meant *your* possessive).

That is a specific example of Projection Biased. It is not my Used Games but literally "your" Used Games. There was an ability to sell Games, it simply was misunderstood and is still misunderstood.

It's like 2013 all over again lol. Sony wasn't a hero in this Generation, they simply know how to lie and do pr a lot better then Microsoft. Sorry but the perspective of Used Games Policies is not "extinct", its just beginning.

 

If the check in could be done via cell phone, why wasn't this more well known. There are very few places without cell reception. Microsoft *** up, not their consumer.

It is true though that to use the Xbox One you need the internet. I can't speak for the games but without the day one update the console simply won't run offline. The One needs the internet to operate.

My TV doesn't need an internet connection. My cell phone can have every internet option disabled and still it works perfectly as a phone.

Yet aren't there Xbox One games that won't run without a day one update, The future Microsoft wanted is almost here.

There are games which won't run with a patch day one or otherwise, but I don't think they are xbox exclusive, there are many games that won't run without the internet which again most are cross plats.

So not as easy as you suggested earlier and in contradiction with other people on this thread, why would I take you word for it when so far your information hasn't been stella, i certainly don't expect anyone to take my word for it.

I think you need to watch the you tube clip and actually listen to the statement he makes.
