if a device like the console's signal was proven harmful it wouldn't be something that would be able to be purchased or sold to consumers.

So there is on reason to believe that the signal is harmful.

As LtLogicon already said, the signal communication between the console and controller goes both ways.

The console can send sound data (like chat and gameplay sound) to the controller, so you can plug in a headset and listen to the game or your chat partners.

Also the game sends signals to the controller for the rumble effects.

And the controller sends the regular controller input to the console, as well as sound from the microphone or other signals from attached accessories like the Chatpad, which will send keyboard characters to the console.

I would say it sends them both ways. The controller sends out the signal to make your player move however I would say the Xbox sends out signals to the controller for functions such as the rumble function.
