Is Xbox one even worth it?

The answer is going to vary from person to person.

For me, it currently isn't worth because there aren't enough games.

The xbox one is perfectly capable of 1080p, give the devs time for that as the specs were only finalised a few months before launch, titanfall does not drop to 5fps that is absurd, it plays smooth all the time, the price drop in the uk and including a free
game now matches the ps4 plus the cost of a game so getting Kinect is now a bonus and actually works very well and I would be more upset if they got rid of Kinect. there are plenty of games out for the one there is only 3 less than ps4 but the ones games
I find to my liking better. there are regular updates so Microsoft needs time to get things in order, PlayStation has also got its own issues in a big way but they seem to do less updates to sort those issues.

 

There's nothing wrong with the Xbox One graphics, all the games I played have all looked great and they will only get better in time.

But ignore the kinect, dashboard and anything you have heard about it, just take a look at the games that are out or coming out and see if they are for you.

 

I love my Xbone but to say Titanfall runs smoothly at all times is just plain false!!!

The drops in frame-rate are a pretty regular occurrence and seem to happen whenever there are multiple Titans on screen and there's some pretty bad screen tearing going on at times as well.

The game is undoubtedly fun but it's far from the technical triumph that some people would have you believe it is and I wouldn't be surprised if the 360 version is almost equal to the Xbone version in technical terms.

So, to answer the question the OP asked, I don't consider my Xbone a waste of money but feel like I could have easily waited to nearer Xmas to buy it without really missing out on much.

 

Thanks for the info guys,I've been watching comparison videos of metal gear solid GZ and the difference between 360 & the one is so slight that without the text on screen saying which is which you could hardly tell,defo not £400 worth.

Let me start by saying the PS4 is a fantastic console and like the XB1 will only get better with time.

Having played a lot on both consoles I can honestly say all the fanboy nonsense " Games look so much better on PS4 " is rubbish. I'm not saying there isn't a difference but in my honest opinion it's nothing worth talking about.

In fact, if you read around quite a few saying even though games like COD, Assassins Creed 4 look slightly crisper on the PS4 but run smoother on the XB1.

The only thing for me where the PS4 is better is the dashboard, just works so much quicker. It's not like the XB1 is "very" slow but there is a difference but I believe Microsoft will try to address this in future updates.

Titanfall running as low as 5fps? I've put a lot of time into this game, the only thing I've noticed on occasions is some screen tearing, nothing that has spoilt the game though.

As for the Kinect, personally I like it but I totally appreciate there's people like you that don't, we are all different after all so there's not much I can really say to convince you lol.

At the end of the day though, like what's been said, go for the one that has the game line up that interests you most, go where most of your friends are but don't listen to the fanboys from either side, they do tend to blow it way out of proportion ;-)

It's not worth £399, its basically a £299 machine with a £100 "kinect" forced on ya. I intended to buy both but now once my local Game EVENTUALLY gets PS4 stock for more than 3 seconds I'm trading in the Xbone.

Talking to staff at my local game yesterday they said the trade in price of a Xbone is now £230, it was £310, then £280, then £250, now £230 and they expect once large number of PS4's become available is going to drop to £180 but it will stay there for a
while. They already have about 18 preowned Xbone an thats just one store.

I hated the Xbone, then owned one an its ok, but after seeing Metal Gear solid on PS4 and then on Xbone "in real life" and Tomb raider I have decided graphics are not everything, but if I'm playing a game on a console I may aswell play it in 1080p at 60fps.
Not 720p at 30fps.

So my Xbones getting traded in first time game have PS4's

 

Actually, forget the above lol.

I'm not taking a £170 hit to trade it in, and I will want to play Halo 2 remastered and Halo 5. So instead of taking a £170 (which will be larger in really terms due to my digital game purchases) it will actually be around £250 down the pan.

I may aswell just buy a PS4 for watchdogs, which its now becoming obvious is going to be spectacularly superior on PS4! An keep the Xbone, oh an after a brief honeymoon my Kinect is now back in the box.

But hear this Microsoft- tell me all day long the difference between 720p and 1080p is not a big deal. But if I can play a game in 1080p 60fps then I will. It looks better and plays smoother.

An sort the frigging dashboard out, if I start my computer/iPad/Phone/ etc everything is nice and easy to find and use. Why has the xbox one dashboard gone backwards 10 years?

 

If the games on the Playstation 4 look the same or better than they do on the XBox ONE then when Sony gets some fantastic exclusives and more Next Gen games then the PS 4 is going to finally give those who chose the budget option something to be happy about.

Right now Microsoft have better exclusives and more next gen games.

The only reason you see Kinect as a forced fail is because you don't own a ONE.

I hear Sony finally put triggers on their controllers for the PS 4.

It's a shame that it took them until next gen to catch up with with stuff we were doing on the XBox 2 gens ago.

I own one, and to many important things were sacrificed to keep the price down whilst allowing them to stick Kinect in the box.

To match PS4 in raw power and include Kinect the Xbone would of retailed at £499 and MS knew that would fail, just like £429 did. I mean when you read Call of duty ghosts on PS4 had "JUDDER" Issues because the frame rate would of EXCEED 60fps at 1080p. Yet
the Xbone couldn't even get to 50fps at 1080p you realise there is a big raw power difference.

 

as I got fifa digi with it then I see it as paying £390 for the console, worth it ... ? im gonna say yeah ive enjoyed forza/ryse/dr3 all of witch are not out on any other system ... tho reckon they could appear on pc ... I think the whole issue on 720p/1080p
is just for fanboys who need that argument ! and if graphics are the most important to you why get a ps4 ?! just get a gaming PC with a decent GPU ! PS looking forward to quantum break !

 

PS im getting a PS4 when a new uncharted is out or tlou (think the 1st is coming to PS4)
