My own personal prediction is 3 years tops. By then MS will want to focus on one console and provide incentive for 360 users to make the move to One. MS says One has a life of 10 years, I don't see more than 1/3 of that time being spent on 2 consoles. Support
both only depreciates the level of support for the newer and the new one is where the money is.

I think that Xbox LIVE will continue for a long time -- with Destiny coming out in September, I don't think Microsoft would shut down the servers at least until 2018. The Original Xbox had games still releasing until 2008 (Madden NFL 09 was the last Original
Xbox game released in August 2008). Many games on the Original Xbox came out steadily until about December 2006- more than a year after the 360's launch in North America in November 2005. Xbox LIVE servers shut down in April 2010. I think we may see something
similar -- though with the 360's install base so large (and the Xbox One still so little) we may see 360 extended longer than previously thought. When there is hardly any games on the 360 being released, we could see that as a warning sign that a few years
later Xbox LIVE for the 360 may be shut down.

Also, SilverCube, I agree. I think, with what's happened with XP, the developers will eventually publish new games out on Just the Xbox One. If and when they see that they are going to loose money publishing games on the Xbox 360 as well. However, as it
stands. People are still with the 360 because of the lack of games and apps available on Xbox One. As well as the fact that their friends may not have moved over yet.

So, at the moment, developers would publish games and apps on both, the 360 and One as they will not be wasting money on either

Yes. I was informed through a few confidants that xbox would get rid of the 360 system in 2 years, and in doing so they will also get rid of 360 live. It's a push to get people to buy the XBone. The system is lackluster at best and really not worth the charge.
It's an overrated cable box with a voice command peripheral that 9 times out of 10 doesn't work or respond. I've tried voicing my complaints and opinions with XBL! As long as they get their money, what happens to you the customer is not their concern.

You may want to watch your language there. These forums are for 13+, and there for must be kept clean.

I have an Xbox One, and find that the Kinect does respond. However, if you are a quit talker. It may not understan what you have said. Also, you have to speak clearly to it as well. This will also make it understand what you have said.

Unfortunately for them Games for Windows LIVE isn't a popular software, and when Microsoft added the ending support for GFWL servers on the Age of Empires Online support page they immediately removed it, because of the media storm that was brewing. Hope
that helps you out with your perspective.

 

Good points made there Silvercube. It would be nice to see them stick around for as long as possible but going off the comments so far in this thread alone, there are pros and cons to it ending too soon or ending later than that. Lets hope for the sake of
those standing by the 360 for a long time to come, that support is the latter of those two.

Xbox 360 support should go on for three more years unless MS has urgent needs to make changes. 360 still is an substantial income stream for MS however, you can look for the elimination od some other programs attached to the 360 live family. However, if
you are coming to the end of your gold subscription and you are ready to buy Xbox One you have until 2016 to switch over your account before your current Gold account ends. I do not think you will see any good games coming out for the 360 sure there is a slot
for 100 new games but some or most of those 100 games for the 360 will be cheesy garbage games that have been on the shelve, put on backlog or put together in a rush.

 

I read an article about Microsoft, and there future plans for the 360. Their was a direct quotation from a Microsoft employee, stating that Microsoft plans on supporting the Xbox 360 with games until 2016. So I would presume that Microsoft would stop supporting
Xbox Live on the 360 around that time. Anyways by that time most people would have moved to next gen, and their wouldn't really be any point on supporting the 360 with XBL updates and patches
