Is Xbox Gold Memberships discontinuing?

Hello everyone.

I need to get a rumour cleared up. I know I cannot purchase a 1 year membership for Xbox Live Gold.

Some people are saying that all users will no longer need to pay to get online for multiplayer.

My Question is this....

Is this the end for Gold memberships and will this mean people can play online without a game pass?

there was a family plan that gave you 4 gold memberships for 99 dollars but it was discontinued. if you have a 360 you have no choice but to buy multiple gold memberships for each individual account sorry.

That is correct on the 360 - only one profile per Gold membership. Previously there was a Family Plan that allowed 4 profiles for $100/year, but that was discontinued last year. On the Xbox One, if the main profile has a Gold membership, then all other profiles
on the machine have access to Gold features (up to 10 profiles I believe).

You would have to buy him his own gold membership.
