    Is XBOX getting too ambitious?

Is Xbox getting too ambitious? I know it’s a competitive world out there especially with Sony but reading “leaks” and rumors and yes I know these are just RUMORS and shouldn’t be taken with a grain of salt really but I have a few questions to ask just in
case some of these rumors have a tiny bit of truth in them.

I hear your console is rumored to be able to run 8K. IF true why? 8k isn’t even main stream right now. Sure there are some 8k supported TVs and monitors out there(there are but far and few between), but they also cost anywhere between $5,000 and $15,000
dollars. So this leads me to my next thought. I’m guessing your system will cost maybe $600 dollars? Want to know why people play on console? Because it’s cheaper than a PC and more convenient to buy, plug and play. $600 compared to a PC that would cost more
in order to play. So why in your guys mind at XBOX would think people wanting to game for cheap by buying a console would want to spend $5k to $15k for a monitor or TV in order to take advantage of what the system would bring. It’s cool and all the hype around
these rumors but us as the consumers (I’m sure a lot haven’t thought about the points I’m making) don’t want to spend 10x to 15x what we spent on the console in order to take advantage of what the console can provide.

My suggestion, 4k is more mainstream now and affordable. Why not focus on a 4k experience with high frame rates? I mean right now even finding anything that can support 4k over 60hz is almost impossible so why are we trying for 8k with high refresh rates?
I believe by time your console releases there will be 4k TVs and monitors out there that can finally have 4k over 60hz and would be better as the consumer to spend our money that way.

This is all speculation of course and based merely off of “rumors” but I still think I make a valid point of having to spend thousands of dollars that we don’t want to just to take advantage of what the next console can offer.
I think you’re being too ambitious and letting the competition get ahead of you over thinking about the consumer.

NOW if you could build in different resolutions running at different refresh rates into the system then I’d be all for that. For instance, In setting you’ll have 1080p selected and then a drop down box for what refresh rate you want then you’ll have a tab
for 2k and what refresh rate you want to play at and 4k at what refresh rate you want and so on(just like a PC players can do). This way most people who have that equipment can use that equipment and play their games. Like me for instance I have a 4k monitor
at 60hz currently connected to my Xbox one x and I also have a 2k at 144hz monitor on my computer. I’m sure other people out there have similar things. It would be nice to be able to plug those in and the console reads what it is and automatically adjust the
resolution and frame rates to what the monitor can handle or we can go into setting and make the adjustments ourselves. So I can either have 4k at 60hz or 2k at 144hz. Right now you just have HD, 2k, and 4k as selections and everything is frame locked to 30
anyways. But if you’re going to be as ambitious to try and run 8k at 30 or more frames then why not give us the ability to choose what resolution we want and what frame rate we want for each resolution. IF you guys are already doing this then HELL YEAH! That’s
    awesome and innovative.

These are just thoughts I’m pondering. But I would like to hear input from others. Maybe I’m just crazy and making a bigger deal out of this than needed lol. I just want the best gaming experience for every that can possibly be offered.

    :)

As others have said, complaining about unsubstantiated rumors about the next console is fruitless. Wait until any official announcements, then complain to your hearts content.

All rumors. But as far as 8k goes, upscaling is super important. The reason 8k exists is for large-format panels. I.e, 75" and higher. 4k looks garbo on that, similar to 1080p looking garbo on a 65". And more and more people are buying larger screens for
    their media/entertainment rooms.

Beyond that, no, not being too ambitious. Ambition breeds innovation. Someone has to push the boundary.

I think that the long term strategy is very focused on exponential growth. people don't want generation 3.5 they want a significant leap in technology. How realistic is that ambition is yet to be revealed.

8k won't be mainstream for a long time. 4k is barely mainstream if at all.

As you stated all rumours and really all we can do is wait for E3 to see what is announced. We can't speculate as to the specs of any future console but I would say building 8k into it is a bit of future proofing. Again, it is just all speculation at this
time and we will just have to wait and see what gets announced officially.
