    Is XB1 Compatible With Multi-Disc Hard Drive Enclosures


    Hi, I have a 1TB external drive that is connected to my XB1 which works fine. I've been thinking about what to do if/when that drive fills up and I was wondering if I got a 4 or 5 bay USB 3.0 external hard drive enclosure if that would work with the XB1?
    Using an enclosure would enable me to add additional hard drives in the future as my storage demands increase and leave the other USB 3.0 ports on the XB1 free.

    Can't install fallout new vegas on XB1 even though I have it on the 360

    I have this game on my 360 installed on hard drive from disc and still own the disc. My XB1 will not let me download it without using the disc. This has not been an issue with any of the other backwards compatible games until now. Yes I can still play it
    using the disc but I want it on the hard drive without needing the disc to play.

    What is the problem?

    Got a problem with the external HDD

    I have tried a couple of external hard drive enclosures. The one I have had the best success with is a Thermalake Muse 5G USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure with a Western Digital 2TB hard drive installed. To use it for games the drive has to be formatted with
    the XBOX. To use it for media you have to format it with a PC first. I have had mixed results with thumb drives. Some of them run fine and I can watch a whole movie. Others drop off in the middle of playing a movie. Stay away from drive enclosures made
    by SABRENT. I bought one and event though it says it is USB 3.0 compatible it kept dropping off. I got another and it too dropped off so then I got the Thermalake Muse 5G and it works fine. I just got a 2.5" external enclosure for an 480GB SSD from Kingwin
    and that too drops off. They all work fine with PC's but not so much on the XBOX One.

    SSD with usb 3.1 not fast enought?

    I'd suggest looking into details on the drive enclosure, the chipset on the enclosure may not be compatible or be of low overall performance versus the drive inside it.

    The correct one is 128gb or greater since updates, Buy can of course just buy a external hard drive enclosure that is usb 3.0 compatible and the internal hard drive that you are wanting in any size, Some say it is cheaper to do I have made a forum post on

    are a self powered hard drive enclosure that stops the drive not loading up.

    I would just buy a USB 3.0 enclosure that will fit the 3.5” hard drive.

    I doubt the 2.5” enclosure you mentioned will be able to power a 3.5” hard drive, as those require external power sources.

    If you bought your hard drive from "Fantom Drives" they will send you a new enclosure and you just have to pop your hard drive out, put it in the new enclosure and it should work. Might have to format it on a computer.
