    is using offline system update tool problematic?


    Hi,

    I got a new game and it says I have to update the xbox to install/play the game.

    The problem is: I moved to a new house and currently I have no access to the internet (this may take few more weeks).

    So I searched for a way to do an offline update and found the "Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool".

    But MS discourages from using this tool if the console doesn't have a Problem downloading the update itself.

    Well, my console would work if it was online but as the whole house is offline it obviously won't get online for the next weeks.

    This is why I'd like to know if this tool could cause some trouble or if this is just the way of saying please use the online update if you can but here is a harmless tool in case you can't.

    Hi ASProg,

    The tool is for use when the console experiences errors during a system update. In your situation you SHOULD NOT use this tool.

    You will need to find a way to get internet access in order to update the system and game updates.

    If you use this tool, it will not resolve your issue.

    So as my console won't get access to the internet I won't be playing new games for that time.

    Still better that carrying the box around just for an update...
