is trading in game items bannable on xbox?

I contacted Xbox support and asked if sending a message asking to use real money to acquire something in game is bannable--as in a permanent ban, even for first time offenders. I gave the hypothetical that someone approaches me first and then asks to acquire
something i have with $$$, and that message were to be reported, could this individual face a permanent removal even if first time offending? They said that was not the case even though I know many people who get banned for Gamertag swaps, which is why I assumed
this was no different. Maybe even worse because both Xbox and games they license are losing money when people do this. I wanted to clarify this question, because of course no one wants to get banned. I do not plan on doing it, but am expecting someone to do
it and want to know if it is worth intervening and helping them before they get careless and get reported. I tried looking through the code of conduct but only found the part where gamertag transactions were bannable, but not in game items. Thank you.

Yes,selling anything over xbox live is classed as "solicitation" & a bannable offence https://enforcement.xbox.com/en-GB/home/staysafe#topic1

The only time it is allowed is if a game has a in game exchange & you are buying/selling in game items for in game currency,not real money.

If it's exchanging real money for items, it's banned (despite everyone trying to do it, especially on Forza and GTA).

Swapping in-game items is perfectly fine.

On some games there's even locations for trading.

Quite a lot of the time unless you trade at the same time (e.g. to trade you both submit an item and confirm it) you'll get scammed, which is obviously against the rules, but that's not the point in hand.

As far as i know, you can do whatever you want with ingame items. Especially MMORPGs have a real money market place on same interner website, where you actually buy with real money what you need in game, coins, armors, weapons and so on. I do not believe
there is any restriction in these terms for the communication on xbox.

So this wasn’t an auto ban for any words I used? A player had to click my message and report it for this to happen? I just don’t understand because so many players trade in game items through LFG’s.

Is putting up a post for trading in game items through LFG’s just a bannable offense now no matter what?
