Is this really the last CONSOLE? Scorpio!

So Ive heard (can't remember where) that Project Scorpio is the last console. But I'm trying to really think in the future what E3 would be like. And how we can move on to better things with new hardware.

That's an awesome question, and here's my thoughts and answer.

Project Scorpio is the console that will ultimately
"bring an end to console generations."

This could mean a lot of things such as the last Xbox console, or in what I think is new consoles that will allow you to simply "upgrade" your console.

Example:

Xbox > Xbox 360 > Xbox One > Project Scorpio > n/a
(right here it is undetermined if this will be a new console.)

There is no confirmation on Scorpio becoming an upgradable piece of equipment internally like a PC, but from what team Xbox has led us to believe;
we don't need to purchase the next console just to play the latest and greatest games. The console will be both forward and backwards compatible, meaning that Halo 5: Guardians will work on Scorpio
even though it's a new format of console gaming. As far as backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games, it is safe to assume that this will be a returning feature alongside the forwards compatibility, but no confirmation just yet.

Current accessories and future will also work with the consoles as well meaning both Xbox One, One S, and Scorpio will work together to support all equipment, and this applies to the
"no gamer left behind" strategy. Games, accessories, and Xbox LIVE will always be accessible on both.

To answer your question though, there is no true answer to directly validate your question. From here we can use the information that we have to look forward to the next Scorpio announcement.

 

Either way this year, as well as next year, are going to be great for the Xbox Community.

 

I'm excited! I don't know if I should wait to get the slim on account of the fact that Project Scorpio will be out next year. And I believe it will be a good year for Xbox as well.

 

It's great to see all the speculation but I doubt that Scorpio (Xbox One X) will be the last console. I think we might be in the last console generation and perhaps consoles will be more iterative (like our phones) but that's speculation on my part as well.

 

The Xbox One X will definitely not be the last console and I think that "generations" will still be a thing. I do like the unification that Xbox is trying to do but when does support of the OG Xbox One end? As games need more resources and power, it will
be impossible for every game to run on the older hardware but with "forward+backward" compatibility, every type of Xbox game will be able to run on future hardware.

Absolutly no! the Xbox One X will not be the last Console, it would not logical or right if be the last console of a great videogames industry with beatiful games (ex. Halo, Gears, Forza)
