Is this Dashboard ever going to be updated ?

Hi everyone.

I purchased an Xbox One X because i have a £1000.00 Sony 4K HDR TV.

I am shocked that the actual Dashboard is still in 1080p and NOT 4K ! This dashboard should auto scale to 4K because it looks terrible compared to the Dashboard on my PS4 Pro which runs at 4K. Is there going to be an update to push this Dashboard to 4K
?

I read all kinds of rubbish on redit that this dashboard is running in 1080p to conserve RAM for games - this is a lame excuse because a simple switch statement or regular expression could be coded in to switch the dashboard back to 1080p when in game.
This is lazy support by Microsoft- 4K console hooked up to a 4K TV should have a 4K Dashboard/UI....

Also this dashboard is horrid. It's ugly as hell. It has giant font's everywhere and it looks like it was designed by a kid. Infact this dashboard looks like a poorly coded website from the 2001... No elements are aligned. There is no real way of
customising it so it's useful. No themes. And compared to the previous dashboard it's not nice to look at. Also what is this big pins button :-/ Also i press the xbox button and there is a delay opening the side panel. I am a Web Programmer and Designer
and i can tell you this dashboard is one of the worst design choices i have seen in years.

Is there going to be an update or redesign of this Dashboard because it's pathetic to look at and use ???

I could code a web looking interface showing how the dashboard could look, if i did this would anyone be interested ?

on Halo 5 resume campaign takes me back to dashboard on X1

i updated halo resumed the game and all seemed fine then midway through playing got disconnected and ever since try to resume and seems fine then as the count down starts get sent back to the dashboard?? The way things are going with Xbox one may soon be
selling it and going back to my Xbox 360... Not impressed

 

When is the website going to be updated

I think atm you can only download stuff from the console. The slowpokes at Microsoft are slow with updating their site apparently.

 

Yes it works and i'm glad your OK with it SILVER8Knight but it's not the point. This thing looks like complete garbage, any UI designer with a small amount of common sense could give us - The Players a far superior experience when not in game. Even the
windows start menu has more functionality than this, at least you can move stuff about a bit. Just imagine, you click a game to launch directly, or long click to open a user interface displaying info on this game ie: Your states, developer new, screenshots,
achievements and so fourth. I am happy your happy with what we have, but this **** is what's making Microsoft employ dozy UI designers that don't no there backside from there elbow !

 

In my opinion the X Box One dash is much easier to navigate than the PS4. As for looks...really don't spend a lot of time on either dashboard.

 

The PS4 Dash gives you the option to separate your games and apps into named folders that are right in front of you, on what Earth can this be harder to use when comparing to Xbox's effort - confused :-/ Also like i said all of Sonys UI is high rez making
everything vibrant and clear to see - this could be achieved on the xbox dash by converting all images to VECTOR graphics, these scale into 4K resolutions as standard. I don't look at the dash when i'm gaming because i'm gaming, but that does not mean when
i'm using the dash i want to look at a complete dog turd in 55 inch's of TV

I don't really buy that RAM argument.

The PS4 Pro has 5.5GB of RAM reserved for games, with 2.5GB of RAM used for the dashboard.

The Xbox One X has 9GB of RAM reserved for games, with 3GB of RAM used for the dashboard.

So the PS4 Pro has a 4K dashboard with 0.5GB less RAM. I would also argue that the PS4 Pro's dashboard is slicker in terms of performance, plus it also allows dynamic themes that are animated, while with the Xbox One the only customisation is to use a static
image as a background.

I can't prove it, but I strongly suspect that MS are using a "good enough" approach here, based on priorities, rather than it not being possible to have a 4K dashboard on the One X due to RAM restrictions.
