Is this a DRM thing ?

So I've got a 360 and a One. I had an account and my son had an account on the 360. Found out that we both needed xbox live to play online so I purchased 2 xbox gold cards and away we went. Son bought a couple games under his user name on the 360 and
all was well we played them. Got an XboxONE and found out that 1 xbox live gold card was all I needed. This is great, I logged in under my account name, added the xbox live gold account and away he went. Felt bad for the 360 and fired it up the other day,
see his account has expired, logged in under my user name but the games he downloaded under his name will not work when I log in. Is this the DRM thing I have read in other posts ? Can I transfer those games to my user name so I can play them seeing as how
he probably wont use the 360 again as the ONE is his favorite machine ? Thanks for all your help.

The DRM was a bad thing. If the DRM was such a good thing. Then why was the PS4 out pre ordering the Xbox one?

Now that the BS DRM is lifted. I might get a X-Bone in the future. Not right away but when the price comes down some Ill probably get one.

There is no way to justfy the DRM as a good thing. If MS left the DRM in place the X-Bone would of FAILED. Its something people defending the DRM dont understand.

Yes it's a DRM thing. On the 360, content you purchase is tied to the account that purchased it as well as the console it was purchased on. So as long as the console has that console license, other profiles can access the content. If you get a new console,
or have one repaired, you have to perform a license transfer to move the licenses to the new console. Nothing can be transferred between accounts, but if you sign into his account and perform the transfer, you should be able to play the games under your account

They have previously said they are looking for ways to pursue things like Family Share and what not in the future, so it doesn't surprise me that all the building blocks of the original DRM system are still there, not activated - they are the things that
would potentially allow things like Family Share in the future. That being said, there is no way they will just bring back the original DRM on launch day. That would be public relations suicide, and they know it. I am hopeful they can find a way to keep the
disc-based DRM we are used to while offering some incentive for digital copies through the initial DRM platform.
