Is there gonna be a reset for gamertags before the xbox one x?

i have recently been told there would be a gamertag reset on the 5th of november. I would just like to ask and see if this is true. i have been eyeing down a gamertag for 3 years and i want to see if it is happening.

hey Microsoft, iv been playing Xbox for a while now and ive just realized how nice it would be if there was a gamer-tag reset for all those inactive accounts. im looking for an OG 3 letter name and im sure many others are... So why dont we reset them and
let people that are gonna be active on xbox use these gamertags, thanks

 

Reseting a inactive gamertag for use.

I'm Sorry but there is no way to have a gamertag to be reset. The tag system is use on other Microsoft services, so even if it's not being used on the Xbox 360 or Xbox One, it could be used elsewhere. If the gamertag is taken there's no way to request a
reset of that account even if it appears "Inactive." There might be a reset of some old inactive gamertags sometime in the future, but until then not much you can do.

 

They don't preannounce releases nor do they say which names are released. You are just going to have to wait and keep.checking

It's a lottery not a on demand service you have equal opportunity like everyone else you are just going to.have to keep teying

 

No more resets or mass releases now as it has changed.

If a gamertag does not sign in for 5 years then it is automatically released.

Remember gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live,so you have no way to know whether a gamertag is in use or not.

As ngocphi said,if you are after a particular tag then you will just have to keep checking & hope you get it if it is ever freed up.
