Is there anyway to limit playing time when child is playing using my account

My son plays Xbox One using my MS account. Apparently it is not possible to move him to a child account, because he is on Xbox One.

Can I limit his playing time in any way?

    thanks,

    Kathryn

  2. Can I move my Xbox One profile from one MS account to another?

I need to put screen time limits on my child and he has been using my MS account for playing his Xbox One which has all of his games he has purchased and his gaming profile. Can I transfer his profile and games to his child account so I can place screen
time limits on his account? It doesn’t appear I can put screen time limits on an adult account. Thank you

How do I move parent settings to child account, or create a new parent...

Well, it seems I was able to get it to work. Here's what I did:

    * I removed all "children" from the family on my account.

    * I changed the age on my account to the age of my child.

    * I created a new MS Live account using another email address.

    * I made my original account a child under the family settings on the new account.

    * I went back to the new account, and set time limits for my child (my old account)

    * I logged into the xbox using the new account, and locked the account down.

Now my child is able to log into the xbox with my old account, has all his old settings he had when he was using the account, and time limits are enforced.

Do you see anything wrong with this? It seems I was able to accomplish what I wanted.

The only thing wrong that I can see with the whole time limits thing is that there's nothing preventing my child from creating a second account, or using a friend's account, and violating the time limits. Nor is there a way for me to set global time limits
that would also affect his friends when they come over. What I'd prefer, and what you could do on the xbox 360, would be to set hard, password protected, time limits for any usage of the device.

There's o reason why you can't create him his own account/profile on the Xbox One.

There's some info on using the family features here

    Thanks for the quick reply.

He actually has a child account, but his 'gamer tag' is associated with my account. From what I have researched, you cannot move a gamer tag to a child account on an Xbox One. If that is not correct, any references to how to do it would be greatly appreciated.
If it matters, and I know it does for Xbox 360, I have an Office 365 subscription on my MS account. On a 360, that prevents moving gamer tags.

Can someone confirm my understanding? If my son has a Xbox One, and is playing using my account, there is

    1. no way to move his gamer tag to his own account

    2. no way to limit his playing hours/time.

    Thanks,

    Kathryn

Hey XGN YoungCosmic! If he is using a gamertag associated with your Microsoft account you can transfer it to another one by following the steps

    here
. Post back and let me know how that works for you!

I believe your son's Xbox Live Profile is linked to your own personal Microsoft Account Email and you wanted to move his Gamertag to his own Microsoft Account Email, am I right? If that's the case then there's a way to do this. However, the standard or normal
process of doing this that can only be done using an Xbox 360 console is no longer working therefore the only option that is left to accomplish such change is use the Alias method:

    support.xbox.com/.../change-email-sign-in-for-microsoft-account
    .

As for your second question, what Ambassador Genesis1953 has said is true. The said family timer is only available in Xbox 360 and not yet in Xbox One. However there are so many parents who've already contacted and reported this with Xbox Support team to
have this be available to Xbox One. Some have already been posted this as feedback. I highly recommend that you do vote for the feedback about putting a family timer on Xbox One to limit the hours of a child when using his console.
