it's not random, you said a very specific trigger phrase that instigate action. just as if you go to a hospital and stay similar things, they will commit you

So because my ban isnt long enough to appeal I'm just stuck with my strike as well? That's an odd interaction to say the least.

What's also odd is how my friend happens to use words just as "vulgar" as the ones I mentioned above more often than I do. He hasn't experienced a single suspension yet I use a rather unsavory group of 2 words once that I haven't used in months and get a 24 hour ban? Feels rather inconsistent

I'm assuming there's some sort of system that automatically flags someone for a suspension if they use certain words too much I just find it weird how I get flagged for my words in a private chat.

Also before you ask no my friend did not report me himself. I'm his friend trying to talk him out of commiting suicide that's something I doubt he would report me for. Doesn't really make any sense reporting someone for trying to help you either. I messaged him on another app and he's just as dumbfounded as I am.

This seems to be a common issue the random flagging and suspension I mean. According to me just asking around and reading. I'm almost afraid to message another friend of mine on Xbox and ask her how she's doing if I run the risk of getting another spontaneous strike.

I've stuck with Xbox for 2 decades. And Experiencing my first suspension/ strike let's just say it's all rubbing me the wrong way. I'm ok with getting suspended for doing something legit bad. But talking down a friend from ending their life and getting suspended for using a certain group of words doesn't feel right.

Guess I better not message anyone on Xbox for the next 6 months.

Oh I know all about watching certain phrases one can and can't say. I volunteer a state over at a mental hospital alongside my psychiatrist, psychologist and therapist. Been there for 3 years now believe me I've seen it all. I'm well aware of the legality of that kind of thing.

My issue is that there was no warning, no email no real reason when I checked my enforcement on my profile. It just said I was suspended it never said I was flagged for harassment or vulgar language or anything like that.

If I hadn't turned on my Xbox today I wouldn't have even known I was suspended in the first place. If I hadn't put two and two together and checked the date of my enforcement on my profile and the date of when I sent my friend that message I wouldn've never figured out why I was suspended

Unless there is some sort of email I happened to miss which believe me I checked.

If my friend hadn't messaged me between when I got banned at 3:33pm 5/14/2025 and 5/15/2025 7:33pm when my suspension is supposed to be lifted I wouldn't have known I was suspended in the first place. I was given no heads up at all. I responded to his message through the quick reply with my phone my message looked like it went through like it normally always does whenever I hit send through quick reply on my hotbar.

The other issue I suppose I have is just how subjective it kind of is when you think about it. What exactly can I say around the automated flagging system? Is it a "if you can't say it on TV you can't say it on Xbox" kind of thing? Im well aware of vulgar, discriminatory, morally questionable and unkind words. I'm well aware of all of that.

It flagged me for saying those specific set of words which I haven't used in about 4 months. Used it 4 months ago it didn't flag me. Yet my friend who has used that exact set of words several times over a span of nearly a year hasn't been flagged once? How specific is it? For context I said "why would you kill yourself?" I've talked to people over the years through xbox who have said "kill yourself" several times with those two words both with more and less words added on both ends of the phrase and yet they come back to me the next day still talking unbanned untouched by the automated system

If I'm not allowed to use certain words to help prevent one of my depressed or suicidal friends from doing something bad to themselves without the automated system flagging my words as mean-spirited and worthy of a ban. Then I might as well just give all my Xbox friends my phone number and discord at this rate no? I've never had issues with Xbox moderation until today and I've been using the Xbox app since it was created. I'm well aware the strike system and stuff like that came out a year and some change ago. But still it just feels flawed. I'm well aware there's nothing you guys can really do about all that. You are V-mods I get that. You didn't make the automated flagging system. You're just here to answer questions to the best of your ability. I entirely understand that. But the system has issues and it's getting good people banned for little things that they would never have seen coming a mile away.

Anyways you guys can close this off if you need too. I technically already got my answer im just ranting at this rate. I'll just stick to discord from now on I suppose. Dunno how to feel about Xbox anymore.

An appeal would be the only possible way to have it removed. Since it's not eligible, all you can do is wait it out.

Is it possible that somebody else had access to your account? If so, they could have been the reason for the ban. Problem is, you are responsible for your account at all times, and if you allow somebody else access, or somebody in the house gains access,
you are still held responsible for their actions. It is also possible, that somebody gained access to your account from another console. This happens when you give out your login details. You could contact phone support and have them open an unauthorized
access investigation, if you believe it was possible that your account was accessed without your knowledge. They will be able to determine if the violation occured from your console, or if it was logged in somewhere else. This will not necessarily change the
suspension though.
