Is there any way to use a VISA/Mastercard ect. style giftcard for Xbox Live purchases?

You do know those cards are a waste due to the enormous service fees they tack on for every transaction which kills the balance even charges that won't go thru like credit check

It's a 50/50 chance

To reduce your chances of failure add billing info on the vendors website and make sure your account region matches and check if it supports online transactions also reoccurring purchases

If the vendor says it does then

Cross your fingers and hope for the best

It's not recommended because it's like playing Russian roulette with online services very few actually work with any online service

The prepaid "Gift Card" type Visa and Mastercards you can purchase in store ARE NOT valid forms of payment on xbox live.

And, you can use Visa, Amex, Mastercard or Discover to sign up for Xbox Live on the console.

I have had about 2 or 3 prepaid visa cards, and tried to use them on XboxLIVE. I have had nothing but trouble with them. I almost got my xbox live gold suspended, and many times I have had to contact xbox support.

My best advice: Stay away from prepaid visa cards. Maybe move to a prepaid mastercard. When I got a prepaid mastercard, every purchase I made on xbox live worked.

I actually tried adding my Paypal Mastercard to force the purchase of one game, but then MS gave the same error message (80167611) on the 2nd game I tried to purchase. I bought the 2nd game by adding a Visa linked to my actual bank account. So far I've used
my Paypal bank account, Paypal Mastercard, and a different banks' Visa to purchase. Ridiculous. If I can't use the Visa the next time I wanna purchase, I am going to flip a major flip!
