Is there any way to turn off the Xbox deleting my captures that are on my Xbox?

I love taking screenshots and videos of my game, it is one of the best features introduced in the last generation with the Xbox One systems. But I am now noticing that my captures from only a month and a half ago are disappearing from my system. I honestly care more about my captures than my games in some cases and would like to have the ability to keep them. The Xbox network storage is always full, and OneDrive is only 5G for free but I had presumed that my xbox would automatically keep all of my captures as it does on other consoles like the Nintendo Switch.

Is there a way to turn off this auto delete system? I do not care how much storage they take.

    :)

As far as I know, there is no way to stop them from auto-deleting, but you could connect an external hard drive to the console and use that for your screenshots and video clips. When you connect the drive do not format it for games, and make the storage the default for screenshots and game clips, and then you will be able to connect the drive to a PC to watch them or transfer them to another device if you wish.

My Xbox Series S captures will not delete

    Hello!

I have tried numerous times to delete it off of Xbox network. Clips and screenshots delete just fine on the console, but when I go into on this Xbox network, my captures say deleted and then I click back into recent captures and they haven’t been deleted at all. I’ve power cycled the console, tried multiple restarts, yet the clips refuse to permanently delete.

    I get error 80048821

@Miss Ermine: Sorry but no joy.

    1. I delete the system cache after deleting my profile only.

    2. Turn Off / Turn On the XBox. No new system cache exists

    3. Turn Off / Turn On the XBox. A new system cache exists. I delete it.

    4. Turn Off / Turn On the XBox. No new system cache exists.

    3. Turn Off / Turn On the XBox. A new system cache exists. I delete it.

    4. Turn Off / Turn On the XBox. No new system cache exists. I import my profile.

Error persists. I still logon to XBox live, but it is the Live Messenger part that gives that stupid error and prevents me from automatically login to XBox live all the time. If I click NEXT after the error and just go to the XBox console, I can see that
I am logged into XBox live. But this is a very convoluted way to do stuff. Of course, the only part that is not working is the entire Live Messenger stuff.

    Can’t upload or delete captures

    Hey Owen!

Nice to meet you! I'm Darhyl, a fellow gamer. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. I am here to help.

If I may ask, are you trying to upload or delete captures via Xbox console or via Xbox app?

Also, may I know when was the last time you attempted to upload and delete captures?

Kindly give it 24 hours to have it sync in the Xbox Live server, however, if it doesn't work, please perform a power cycle before deleting them again.
