However, you may be out of luck as cloud saving on the 360 is locked behind the Gold Membership

If you log in/download your old profile from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One (which you should be using the same profile/Microsoft account, never should you have to create a new account unless there is a genuine problem such as being hacked or outdated) and
when you download a game that is backwards compatible, in this case Mass Effect... you should get a pop-up in the Xbox 360 emulator when you start the game to select the storage save. Often times in my experience the only option on 360 games on the Xbox One
is to use cloud saves. So, so long as the game was originally saved on a cloud save... you should have access to it also assuming you log into the original account that save was on.

If you had forgotten your password or email, the account can be recovered. These two links should help you if that's the case.

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this question. Congratulations on your new Xbox One X! To continue playing a game on Xbox One that you started on Xbox 360, you would need to save it to the cloud. When you play the game again on Xbox
One, you’ll pick up where you left off.

As our Ambassador has pointed out, with the Xbox 360 in order for the saves to have been uploaded to the Cloud, you would have needed Xbox Live Gold (or Game Pass Ultimate). With Xbox One, as you no longer have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, this
is no problem as you can download your profile/saves/etc. with just an internet connection. That being said, if you had a subscription before & uploaded to the Cloud, you would not need the subscription now to download the information, just a connection to
the internet.

Your game saves will be stored on the cloud. The actual game itself is not.

On the One you have unlimited cloud space. It just increases the more you save. I believe the 360 is limited to 2GB of cloud storage.

So then my progress and saves in my digital games will be okay if I reset my console? I'll be able to retrieve them with the rest of my game saves?

It is but I also deleted my original save file that was on the cloud so I could start over on my Xbox one but low and behold I still had to create a save on the cloud and have the game start the same way as any 360 game would start along with having to
also log into my account on my 360 before it would play.
