Is there any way to backup saved games?

@godslayer - I need to still experiment with this feature, but I didn't say there were 2 copies on the external, I said 2 copies. 1 on internal and one on external. At this time have no idea how that works with the OS. This is the video I watched, skip
ahead to 4:05 and you can see after his copy, he has 2 wolfensteins showing, 1 internal, one external.

I do fully agree that the Hard drive the Xbox comes with is inadequate considering size of quite a few big titles. Have only had mine a month and decided to upgrade, nice 4TB external

Makes sense I guess. I never had a problem with the saves and not sure what was causing it but anyways.. back on topic... OP I think the nicest and easiest way is to set up your kids own name/account, have her personalize it on her own, child lock it for
safety and have her sign in w. kinect or on her own. and for the game.. like I said, play it for a bit to level her up..

this way only games you internally share will be available to her not your gorey adult games

@tohellnbak - We already have this and (slightly off topic) I do like the way the content protection works for the kids, but I have 11 Grandkids, and the intention with the lego game specifically was for my wife to play it in her spare time and open up all
the levels and extras, so the kids could "free roam" with any characters they want when they come around. So even with their own accoutn, this objective isnt possible without my wife playing multiple accounts and levelling them all up

I think I have realised the only way to achieve what I want is to log them all the way into the game before handing over control (the first time this happened, my wife just loaded the game and handed the controller over, and the default first menu choice
was "new Game" and the kid just pressed the buttons and overwrote the previous save)

Either that or just set up a spare account and use that for the horde..

Thats too bad. I guess it varies from game to game. But most every game where decisions you make can affect the entire story arc I would try to keep two save files. So keep it in mind for other games.

Sadly, Lego doesn't allow you to load from one slot and save into another.

But interestingly, as I mentioned, I have a new external drive which I have just installed, and I notice that as well as choosing to "move" games from internal to external, I can "copy". Just watched a youtube video of someone doing that and you do end
up with 2 versions, one on internal and one on external. I probably wont do this because it would just confuse my wife and grand-kids having 2 versions of the same thing show up. But its is kind of interesting that it does seem possible doing it this way.

It saves to the cloud automatically but if you overwrite it like you did its gone

Just have you or your wife play the game to get to that level and then let them go have fun I mean EVERYONE loves a good Lego game

Saves automatically back up to Xbox Live, but there are no other options. I suspect it's because people used third party tools to mod saves on the 360 by moving/copying a save to a USB stick so it could be accessed on a PC. tohellnbak's solution is your
best bet.
