Is there any way to backup saved games?

I think I know the answer to this and will be disappointed, but wanted to float it anyway, just in case.

Am wondering if there is anyway to back up saved game data in case it is accidentally overwritten. The reason I ask is my wife has been playing lego Marvel Super heroes for about a week now and trying to unlock as much as possible. Then when my grand kids
come around, they can free roam. Unfortunately, our 7 year old, accidentally started a new game in the same save slot and overwrote my wife's saved game.

This idea is probably sledge hammer to crack a nut, but am also getting a new hard disk today to expand my xbox 1 storage, so it occurred to me that it might be possible some how to copy saved games to somewhere else on the disk to retrieve if needed, even
if its with 3rd party tools and temporarily moving the external disk back to a PC (though I understand that natively XBox 1 formatted disks cannot be seen by windows?)

    :)

  2. Lost Cloud Game Saves

    Hi.

Is there a way to access a backup of my cloud saved games?

I had Lego Batman saved on there, and now - it's nowhere to be seen. I'm pretty sure i never deleted it. Is there an equivalent of a Cloud based Recycle Bin?

    Thanks

    Chris

    Data on hard drive corrupt

    Hi there,

I'm afraid that if you didn't keep a backup on any other device that all the save data is lost since there is no way to recover it. Some games do save certain progress online, but any local saved games are most likely lost.

    Sorry for the bad news...

only way to prevent this is to not have an auto log in automatically.. if you have a kinect... start a gamertag for your kids... and associate a "profile" for them so the kinect will recognize them and have only them log in under their name when they grab
a controller... and your wife on hers etc etc

Saves automatically back up to Xbox Live, but there are no other options. I suspect it's because people used third party tools to mod saves on the 360 by moving/copying a save to a USB stick so it could be accessed on a PC. tohellnbak's solution is your
    best bet.

Thanks for the replies, thought that might be the case. We actually want them to play on my wife's, so they have all the features she unlocked, so the process now is "we log them all the way in and tell them "come and tell us when you have finished do not
    do anything else" lol

Some games allow you to choose your save slot when you manually select to save (not auto save). If this game does that you can load up your game and save to two different slots. I used to do it all the time with long RPG type games so I wouldn't have to
completely start over if I decided I didn't like how my characters level progression was going

@JPep - I never thought of that, it does offer 4 save slots, so will try loading one and saving into an empty one, thanks

Sadly, Lego doesn't allow you to load from one slot and save into another.

But interestingly, as I mentioned, I have a new external drive which I have just installed, and I notice that as well as choosing to "move" games from internal to external, I can "copy". Just watched a youtube video of someone doing that and you do end
up with 2 versions, one on internal and one on external. I probably wont do this because it would just confuse my wife and grand-kids having 2 versions of the same thing show up. But its is kind of interesting that it does seem possible doing it this way.

Thats too bad. I guess it varies from game to game. But most every game where decisions you make can affect the entire story arc I would try to keep two save files. So keep it in mind for other games.

  14. It would be nice because battlefield is a pile of trash i have lost my sp save every time and i dont have a day to sit and play the whole campaighn and i am sorry but i actually like the sp story parts of cod and battlefield compared to mp i am a sp gamer
and dabble in mp . I am passing on hardline because of this and will stick with any other games because if they cant fix a simple thing like a sp save then i will never give them my money again . The worst thing is they could have made a patch to unlock each
level so you can play or start from any level and it would have solved the issue .

  15. the extrenal does not have two if you keep it connected why would you use it just to keep saves as i have a 2 terabyte and its just the same as a internal plus you can set it up to pick what the console uses as the main drive as mine is set to external so
all data goes to that since the internal is full , plus i have a few games on both and when i play the game it has never had a issue . Its stupid anyway they want everything digital and full installs and they give a 500 gig drive thats absurd and in a few
months it was full as i am nearly full and i have 2 terabytes . Most games are over 20 gigs then others like halo are up to 63 gigs and it will go up after the update with the other game when it gets added to halo , baffles me because it would be fine if you
did not need to install every disk but thats what takes the most space. Also it so disks are just drm now and a waste to me since i dont trade my games in it is pointless to buy since you need to install it and alot of games dont use the disk after that other
    than drm pointless.
