Is there any way of manually updating games when I WANT TO?

I am with Comcast in the Atlanta area and they have the ridiculous 300GB/month data cap in my area. That is a rant for another post, but for now I have to deal with it. My 9yr old son uses the xbox as well and some of these game updates/downloads are rather
large. I have taken my Xbox to work in order to download or install over their their T1 connection, but was wondering if there is maybe a way (or idea) to manually update or download games when I WANT TO & not when my son may accidentally does it. This way
I can either taking it to work or even do these downloads toward the end of the month when I might have enough bandwidth left to burn.

AT&T Uverse internet is an option in my area, but their cap is supposedly 250GB/month. I heard thety haven't been enforcing it, but starting in May they apparently will be (& increasing the data cap to 600GB/month). Also, their speeds in my area are nowhere
near what Comcast can offer. 18Mbs vs 150Mbs. I am just trying to avoid paying Comcast another ridiculous $35/month for unlimited internet data.

Updating Game (COD Black Ops) Manually

I am overseas in Afghanistan and do not have access to Xbox Live. I am not an Xbox and am unable to find any definitive info on updating COD Black Ops any other way than through Live. Is there a way to manually update the game?

There is no way to manually update games with a USB device. Can you open up the Halo folder under Games and delete any Title Update files you find there. Clear the cache, restart, and try updating the game again.

 

play offline is the only i can think of

as when updates get released for a game you have to update when online

also make sure your power setting is on energy saving so it doesnt update when off

 

Hello There, I'm happy to try to help you with your problem that keeps consisting with your question. There is NO other way to update the game when you want to but the only way to avoid updates is by not being connected to the Internet.

Disable "Always On" which will stop updates from downloading but when a game is launched it will try to update if one exists and if your son accepts it, it will start the download.

I have Comcast and luckily they haven't implemented the data caps here yet. But one option is to pay the $35 extra a month to get unlimited data on Xfinity (customer.xfinity.com/.../exp-unlimited-data).
They recently dropped the price of the 150mbps so I called them and almost halved my bill which is more than enough to then buy the unlimited data add-on.
