Is there any timetable as to when Microsoft is reintroducing working voice control?

Because it'd be just swell if 'Select Mode' actually worked for everyone, and I'd like to know how long I'll have to wait for this broken feature to be repaired.

Getting a GamerTag that's "already in use"?

The tag system is in use on other Microsoft services as well. So even if it isn't being used on the 360, it could be in use elsewhere.

Microsoft reset old gamertags from the original Xbox service years ago, but there is no timetable for when other gamertags are reset. There is also no way to request a gamertag.

If you go into the settings section and disable Cortana the console will switch back to the legacy Xbox voice commands.

If, for whatever reason, Cortana isn’t what you want, you have the option to go back to the original voice control model using the "Xbox" command. When you switch, here’s what you’ll lose:

Headset voice control

Expanded commands and voice recognition

Voice-to-text input (dictation)

You can bring back Cortana at any time.

To revert to the original voice control model:

Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Settings > All settings.

Select System > Cortana settings.

In the snapped window on the right, highlight the On switch, and press the A button to turn it to Off."

 

I appreciate the response, but I've already tried that. The problem is, post-update, "Xbox Select" and the associated features no longer works in the legacy version for me, either. It (by which I mean "Xbox Select" in legacy and "Hey Cortana, Select" or
"Hey Cortana, Select Mode," etc., in the new version--before someone suggests it, I'm aware that the command trigger changes slightly between the two) is now broken in both.

So, I did at least try what I could find before resigning myself to making snarky topics on the support forums. I don't believe there's any solution available to me, although if anyone has other ideas, I'm glad to hear them. Otherwise, I just don't know
of a good way to let Microsoft know, "hey, you broke voice command--at least for some people--over a month ago. That feature was one of the main reasons I bought this console in the first place, and it was working fine as it was. Get on with fixing it, please."
