Is there an increase in phishing messages on Xbox Live

Basically, I encountered an Xbox Live message from an account that had all their information set to private and a silver account which sent me a phishing message saying "their Xbox broken down and they got a loan for x amount to purchase a new one" with
a link to the website.

Now, I am asking, is there an increase in phishing messages for different kinds of services now for some people? I understand the gold subscription and prestige/rank lobby scams which seem to be coming from brand new accounts that will never be used? I am
used to getting those kinds of messages on Twitter considering how people try to hide links that look normal, but are more of harmful.

Just want to ask around since I have already blocked/reported the user. Hoping that I can warn others that these people who try to get account information are now trying newer methods through different websites outside of the free Xbox Live stuff kind of
thing just to trick users into providing account information. I have never had any problems and I wasn't aware that these scammers are using new methods to get user info.

A while ago there were some people saying they got messages about how to get free fifa coins etc.. Now recently I've heard some saying the same as you are but personally I've never received any of those messages. No matter what platform there will always
be scammers so just block and report like you did

I've had a few spam messages. Mostly about Fifa coins.

I just report and block them but they then send me the same message again using a different gamertag

I am receiving these phishing messages now more than ever. About once a week, it's super annoying and there isn't really any recourse. I have taken to blocking and even reporting the account, but what does that accomplish really..? The offender clearly has
me on some sort of list and just hits me up again with their newly created account.

*sigh* I guess earlier generations had to put up with prank calls, this sort of griefing is a modern equivalent I guess. Who follows up on that crap?!
Someone must or the phishers would stop.

Regardless of the phishing method, the single most important thing to remember is: Do not reveal your login credentials or other information about you or your account(s).
