Is there a way to delete a gamertag created by accident and never used?

My son already has 2 gamertags - by accident - and in the process of trying to change the email address on one of them, I logged into a 3rd Microsoft account that I use for my business and when it asked me if I have a gamertag, I thought I got out of it
but it created a gamertag.

How can I delete this new gamertag? It's not been used and I don't want it to accidentally get used by leaving it out there.

Plus I can't move the active gamertag to this email because it now has a gamertag attached to it.

Microsoft Chat Support says I can't delete it. That has to be wrong.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just realized that I have now used the gamertag that I want to delete by posting in this forum. Hope that doesn't keep me from being able to delete it!

Created a GT by accident...

You could call phone support and request a deletion of the gamertag, but not the email.

If you wait the 30 days, you have to wait an additional 30 days before you can use the email address. Because of those wait periods, you actually end up wait 60 days to use that email.

Now I even tried it after deleting my game saves and I tried it with a different profile / gamertag but none of it worked. I think the DLC never worked and was released by accident. What should I do now?

if you're trying to use an email that's already set up on another gamertag then youll need to swap that gamertag onto a new email or just create a new Hotmail or outlook account for your gamertag.

The gamertag that has your actual email address that you wanted to use, did you want to keep that gamertag or was it something that was set up accidently?

unfortunately there is no way to get an gamertag that already exists.

The only ways to get that gamertag is: If the other person, who created that tag, change it into another gamertag, or the gamertag you want, gets deleted by the person who owns it and if its not you, there is no way to get it.

Hello there, people have made accounts on accident and never been used for 2+ years and their gamertag never got available again. I believe there was only one time, if I am not mistaken that they made some gamertags active, and that was a long time ago.
So there is no date when the gamertag will be available again, if it ever does.
