Is there a setting to stop people joining my sessions

Hi, I have encountered a problem a few times while playing a multiplayer game, where someone on my friends list is joining session off me in order to get on the opposite team to ruin my game play (and because I refused to invite them to my game when I wished
to play on my own for a change).

Is there a way to stop people from session joining me, whilst still being able to actively invite them to a party and have them join me as and when I desire?

The setting "Join Multiplayer Games" just says that i can "Decide to allow or block joining Multiplayer games on xbox live" but I am unsure if that will block them joining off of MY invite, or just block the session joining.

Can someone clarify this for me please because this person who keeps session joining when I decline their game invites and so on, is pretty much making me want to stop playing multiplayer all together.

There are sites like Trueachievements.com where you can host a gaming session. You can create your own by setting the time and date to whatever you like or join another persons session. I've met some cool people by joining sessions. Sometimes there might
be a no-show but people are willing to be back-ups in that case. Everyone's TA.com page has a link straight to their xbox profile page, where you can add them as as friend.

 

im getting a lot of abusive messages HELP!

im getting a lot of abuse on my account from random people i think my gamertag was in a video or something but i don't have the money to change my gamertag but don't really want to either but seems like it might be my last option is there anyway i can please
have a forced gamertag change just to stop these players from joining my sessions and sending me abuse over xbox live

 

@ladycazzeh Have you gone to your friends list, go to either your profile or someone that is in your party. When you go right there could be two boxes, one being the party box saying how many people are in your party and the other the game party. Click the
game party and you should be able to set the option to where other players can't join your session at all without invite.

 

I cant find this option on Advanced Warfare, which is specifically the game I am having the problem with. However on the Dashboard of XBox One, with the game loaded, I did find under my profile a page with "Join In" and when I clicked that, there was a choice
of two options, "Set to Joinable" which was highlighted already, when I clicked that, it changed to "Require Invites".

Could this be the mysteriously absent within game setting that I need to change?

 

Yes I believe that is the option- for safe measure I'd have a friend test it out with you- toggle it to where you require invites and see if they can join session. I noticed this on COD Ghosts a while back when I was having trouble joining a friend- he had
accidently turned on require invites and I could only join when he sent an invite (until he toggled it to set to joinable).
