Is there a setting to mute all players by default, or disable chat entirely?

Currently, I plug the headset in, mute the mic, turn the volume down, and set it to the side. I wish there was a way to mute player chat entirely like on 360.

Party chat might work too, just be in a party of one if possible and nothing will intrude hopefully.

I only use game chat anymore. Its annoying when people hole up in their party's and can't play objectively. I find I mute more people in party's then in game chat. I think party chat should be disabled in game.

The biggest problem has always been muting people in a timely manner, you know figuring out who is actually bugging you in chat and muting them before you lose the match while navigating through recent players.

you left out a key one... listening to those players constantly panting and breathing hard playing the game, and those on the phone yet have their mics on during the entire conversation... i think instead of getting rid of chat, make the mute feature actually
work. you can't mute anyone in this game even by muting them from the xbox live menu.

I'm told that the easiest thing to do is to start a party with just myself, and party chat should "mute" people during my playing sessions. However, this isn't as convenient as a default setting for mute all. I love my XBO, been playing the hell out of it.
But, MS didn't really focus on the gamers here with this UI. Not sure who they were targeting.

Since the last update, the game has the audio chat disabled by default. So, you must go to the game settings, open the audio tab, then activate the box "enable voice chat".
