    Is there a list of controllers that are going to be banned by Xbox?


    I use a third-party controller for an accessibility issue with my hands. I currently use a wired third-party controller as the button placement is more comfortable for my hands in extended gaming sessions. Does anyone have a list of the companies that are being added to this potential third-party "ban"? If mine is on that list, I want to try to find an alternative before that happens.

    any third party unlicenced controller, wired or wireless will be banned.

    You can use it wired. They are only banning the wireless 3rd party. So as long as you make it wired your fine

    There isn't a list. Only 3rd party controllers that have not been certified to work on Xbox are what is banned. So if you have a controller which on the box has this logo, then it should be fine. More info on the Designed for Xbox can be found here https://www.xbox.com/en-US/designed-for-xbox

    To update your controller firmware:

    • Connect a controller to your Xbox One with a USB cable. Keep any headsets connected to the controller.
    • Connect to Xbox Live.
    • Press the Menu
    • Go to Settings > Devices & accessories. Select the controller.
      • If you have multiple controllers attached, you can select Buzz – which will cause the selected controller to vibrate.
    • Then select Update to download the new firmware to the controller attached via the USB cable, and the screen will show the Updating controller … progress screen
    • When you see the Controller updated screen, press ‘B’ to go back to the Devices & accessories main page
