Did you know that a lot of people in this thread are from Australia and New Zealand? I’m in Europe. It has nothing to do with hating European and only caring about Americans.

The thing is newer isn't always better. I own an 8gb mechanical IDE hardhard drive. It sounds like a jet engine taking off when it runs but it still runs all these years later. I have (well had now) a 120gb Sandisk SSD, it failed
on me in under a month.

Technology doesn't just stop working as it gets older. Yes the age is a factor but how it was treated, who the manufacturer was, and the silicon lottery also all play a part.

People shouldn't be afraid of buying used, they just need to apply the same research as they would when looking at a new item.

I suggest you contact XBOX SUPPORT. We are not paid and we are not required to answer your questions to your liking. We just give input of our own. And kids and young people can participate on this forum too. We are not Xbox Support. Just because this is
a forum doesn't mean we are obligated to have the maturity and/or the experience to answer your questions to your liking. People have tried to answer your question most certainly. And Microsoft although an American company, provides services worldwide. Don't
make me XBL Message any of the moderators/Support Staff to come on here just because you have a tantrum and swear on here.

So your asking us if you should buy an Xbox One?

    Short answer yes.

    Long answer, depends.

Basically if you do buy anything get an Xbox One X, especially if you have a 4K screen. Also, you said you bought an Xbox 360 in 2014, but then said you didn't play it much. What is stopping you buying an Xbox One and not using it much?

Also, at the moment nobody outside of Microsoft knows when the next Xbox is going to be released, it could be as early as 2019 or as late as 2021 (cant see it going past that)

basically, make up your own mind and stick with it.

The x provides noticeably better graphics. Microsoft also has over 100 titles which are x enhanced. And as Microsoft has stressed, you DO NOT need a 4k tv to enjoy those enhancements. Just like pc, you dont need a 4k screen to pipe up the graphics settings
to High or Ultra. The same with the x. It will have better visuals and thats what the youmger generation want.

Also the x has better horse power than the s, so that means faster ui purely due to the better processing and computational power of the x. Way better gpu processing faster processor. It makes life more convenient not having to wait for a slower machine
    to get things done.

As for used and new, both have their pros and cons. Even if something is used for only a short period of time, you know scratch about how the previous owner handled it and used reduces its financial value compared with new. At the end of the day it has already
been used and it lacks a full warranty that the new has.

Is the Xbox One worth buying in 2018/2019?

Yes, it’s definitely worth it however I would never buy a used console especially if you want it to last a while. Even if you check it first I would still buy new. A used console will already have wear and tear.

I know you’re not interested in the X, and games are made for the base console and enhanced for the X, but in my opinion the enhanced versions of the games are far superior than the base game. At least in my opinion for the games I’ve played they are way
better so the extra cost was well worth it to me.

Your best bet is to get the S.

what would go wrong with a used console though? i got a used xbox 360 elite from 2009 and it still works quite fine. it only has low framerate in few games (for instance minecraft, but i think it might be the only game my x360 has issues with).

Well I think you’re lucky it lasted that long. Chances of a used console failing quicker than a new console are much higher. Obviously do what you think is best. It’s your money and it’s up to you. I was just giving my opinion.

Best of luck with your console when you get it. If you do buy used, ask the owner for the serial number and then go to register it.
serial number? register? what do you mean and why should i do that? i don't know anything about that

Of all the things that I would buy used, a modern gaming console is not one of them. Actually any electronic device isn't one of them. I agree with brandiesel in that you probably got lucky that a used console lasted that long. It's not hard to tell how
some items have been treated by their previous owners, but consoles (IMO) don't always follow that rule. You never know if it's been well cared for or has been left turned on, sitting in an enclosed, unventilated media case for days on end. In short, it could
last years, it could last days.

Maybe I'm off with this observation, but you seem to have put yourself in a bit of a... predicament. You want to buy a used console that will last a few more years.

"When i mean few more years tho, i'm not talking about 2 years. I'm talking about another 5 years"

The potential problem with that approach is what you're running into right now. Not so much that the hardware won't hold up, but the user base won't.

" I just want to be sure that when i get an Xbox One, i'll have PLENTY of years awaiting till it dies, because the X360 is basically semi-dead with the fewer amounts of people playing on it now. Everyone moved to the Xbox One..
    :("

There's just no way to guarantee that. In fact, buying a console (new or used) several years into its life cycle and wanting to have plenty of years awaiting until it dies would've been nigh impossible before the Xbox One family
of consoles. Each generation wasn't compatible with its predecessor, leaving its respective user base and game supply to slowly dwindle until everyone eventually moved on to the newer version.

At least now you do have a better shot at getting what you want since MS have said that their plan is to have a 'family' of consoles that will be able to play together on XBL without the disadvantage of separating the previous
generations from the current ones. This, however, is new territory at least for gaming consoles, so who knows... it may work out as they intended, it may not.

If I were in your position, I'd probably do what a few others have already suggested and go with an Xbox One S
(There's no way I'd buy a used one though). I'm still playing on mine while I give the One X a year or so to get launch bugs and its OS worked out. And to see if MS will actually hold to their current 'cross generation/platform' concept
or if, for some unforeseen reason, they decide that generations worked better than families with consoles and there actually is an "XTWO" in the works.
