Is the Xbox One Really Worth Purchasing Right Now?

Is the Xbox One really worth purchasing right now? Hopefully Microsoft will release the White Version of the Xbox One. I don't really care for the tv cable stuff that xbox one offers, that's what my cable box is for to watch tv. I didn't really care for
the xbox 360 kinect is the xbox one version better? Plus the biggest reason is I still can get all the games that I want either on xbox 360 or ps3, and right now I am starting to get a Wii U backlog of games to play/purchase.

    :)

Purchasing an xbox one. Is now the right time?

    @ Joey ....

First I've heard of this rampant issue?? Sure Xbox One can and do go wrong but you could buy a brand new Bentley today and something could go wrong, just a fact of life. I believe though the issues that have been seen with the Xbox One so far are nowhere
near as bad as the RROD on the Xbox 360.

So if this is what's stopping you then I'd say don't worry and go for it, well providing that the games on offer now appeal to you, I wouldn't buy any console unless it had a decent line up of games that appealed to "me"

Is Xbox One really worth the money?????

There are things to fix but overall I love it. I had a look at some of the playstation 4 reviews and walkthroughs online and I know that I made the right choice. Apparently a lot of duelshock 4 controllers are having issues i.e. breaking already.

No. I am also very angry from currently using mine right now. I wish I would've bought a PS4 or PC but I'm a fanboy and went with ONE mostly for hopes of the progression of gaming argument and because of friends. This thing is infuriating in its current
    state for gamers.

  6. I would say if a console has at least 5 games you want to play on the store shelf, then I would pick it up. The hardware specs are what they are and the Kinect is in the box for the foreseeable future. So if the xbox has the experience you want along with
the games you want to play then go for it. Im currently enjoying mine. I picked up a 360 at launch and now a one, and I would make the same decisions again.

I for some reason do not like the Sony Experience. I've never been a fan of the UI. I will get a PS4 down the road once it has 5 games I want to play or a decent price drop and a Killer App. But 2014 is looking good to be an xbox gamer.

  7. Completely agree with Listed Mia and Canadian Bacon, I'm loving my Xbox One despite the few issues that have to be fixed. It's a brand new, freshly released console so it's bound to need a few patches.

    .

But Sceprent, what about the Xbox One is making you angry? And I think of myself as a gamer and while one of its issues might feel infuriating, the experience as a whole is nowhere near that. It's uplifting for me, so please don't speak on my behalf.

If it's all about the games for you then just look at what's out now and do they interest you? looking at games yet to be released, soon or 6 months from now, do they interest you? if yes then I'd say it's well worth picking one up now, if you look at them
and think ... "Well I'm in no rush" ... and you said your quite happy with games on the 360/PS3/Wii etc then I guess the longer you wait the bigger selection of games you will have to choose from.

Worth noting though like with any new console there are a few bugs, worse for some than others, I'm 100% sure they will be fixed sooner rather than later so can you put up with a few hiccups along the line as they say?

I quite liked the first Kinect and in my opinion this new one is ALOT better, it's worked really well with some games already, the voice commands etc are great once you get use to them. Having said that I have to be honest, now don't get me wrong, as I've already
said I believe it's a great piece of kit but for me anyway the novelty of voice commands etc has already worn off, I appreciate it's early days yet, console is only 2 months old but for me it needs a killer ... "Kinect Only" title to really get my interest
back in it, again, early days.

So a great console, some fantastic games already out there with more on the way, a few bugs that I'm sure most expected but as time goes on I only see it getting better and better.

My personal experiences with it, as both a gaming and entertainment device, I've loved every second of it, the only problems i had was with some weird glitches with DR3 and Halo Spartan Assualt crashing a few times on me, but both of those problems are the
game developers and Capcom patched a lot of the glitches with DR3 is the last patch, I absolutely love the XB1 the main reason I bought it instead of the PS4 is for what it will become, microsoft is known for being the dominant firmware company, it is mainly
what they make there profit off of, and look at what they've done with the 360, the PS3 was quiet a bit more powerful then the 360 yet sony's kinda bad at firmware tbh, I mean at launch almost all the ps4 games were experiencing framerate issues and Dice and
Ubisoft got so much hate from it that they tweeted saying it was sony's bad firmware that was causing it, later that night sony did release a firmware update however, anyways the 360 even though it's less powerful can still keep up with PS3 games today and
even outdo it in some cases, for instance GTA V runs native 720p on the 360, native 640p on the PS3.

    No it is definitely not.

    .

J/k...gotta keep the troll accusers on their toes.

    .

To answer your question...I don't have an X1...but I would say that if you can stand not that many games which is normal for any launch console and you really want one...then go for it.

I would wait. There aren't that many games yet and the system needs a major update as there are so many things missing that you could do on the 360. Give it another 6 months and hopefully it will be good to go.

It's down to personal preference and the things you know about it.

    .

I brought mine at a midnight launch only cuz I like Xbox. Maybe as this year progresses when Halo, Titanfall, Project Spark, Minecraft, Final Fantasy XV these games are expected to release this year. And when they do and when more peps have had enough time
to save up to get an Xbox 1, it will become more popular.

    .

When I log onto my Xbox 1 there's hardly any content on marketplace compared with Xbox 360's giant catalogue. Only cuz Xbox 1 is pretty new (hasn't been out for even 3 months yet November 22 2013 - February 22 2014).

    .

I've spoken to some of my Xbox friends and they said they've had friends who've regretted buying it. I have some friends who want to try it but their parents can't get it or they don't have the time/money for it. So far only have seen about 10 out of 100
of my friends on it, and all of them still return to playing Xbox 360, though one or two of them are spending more time on 1. I spend more time on my 360 still.

    .

Things I think M need to work on and many would agree on at least some of these points is that "Xbox" 1 kind of cant do half the stuff "Xbox" 360 can. (1) battery indicator (2) recent players list (3) party system not as great as 360's peps having dislikes
about it even though Xbox 1 has new audio codecs or something (4) no bio/motto/name/location on your profile (5) no USB support (6) no access to consoles HDD (7) can't even send VOICE messages to other Xbox 1 users (8) laggy Dashboard while voice commands
may be faster, using the remote you have to... wait... for different menus to... load. Xbox 360's current UI is much more user friendly especially kids and responsive familiar and faster and 360's current UI is also metro yet peps can "personalize" by even
adding a picture/theme to the Dashboard background while older peps may not want this many younger peps do. And 360's UI runs on older hardware. Why is Xbox 1's UI slower has got me both consoles are connected to Xbox Live and Xbox 1 has better processing
power so the OS so it shouldn't be seeing the slow menu loading times. I think M is going to address some of these more important issues in the next update. It would also be a good idea for them to release an official chatpad. Xbox 360 has one and it's like
10x faster than just using the controller's keys alone (well it's like that). Xbox 1 should concentrate on having the important features as an Xbox as found from Xbox 360 rather than focusing solely on Windows 8/Skype (8) external HDD support (9) Dolby support.

    .

The graphics are good though. One of my friends said COD looks better on 1 than 360. 1 does have much more RAM and a more up to date GPU and an AMD 8 core Jaguar APU. Zoo Tycoon looks amazing. The controller is awesome is lighter than the 360, Kinect can
read QR codes and you don't even have to hold it right up to the sensor. Xbox 1 also offers detail status of your network like download speed and ping something which 360's UI doesn't. What I've mentioned my help the OP decide if s/he wants to get Xbox 1 "right
now". This is just my input. In it's current status I give Xbox 1 6.5/10 and Xbox 360 a perfect 10/10.

Is the Xbox One Really Worth Purchasing Right Now?

It depends what is your schedule.. Price likely won't drop within a year, any new meaningful hardware revision is also quite unlikely in that time. So if you're not gonna wait for it several years, might as well buy it now and enjoy it as it is now. Cos
unless you wait long enough for a price drop, it's not like you lose or gain anything by waiting.

    .

I'm very happy with my Xbox One, the Kinect is amazin and works great for me. Obviously there are shortcomings in the software but those will be updated, nothing game breaking for me at least. I rather enjoy the games now than wait a year for half the things
to be fixed and still pay the same price Is the Xbox One Really Worth Purchasing Right Now? :p That said, I didnt have a 360 for example so I was "in a hurry" to get the X1. If you find yourself entertained with the 360 for now, perhaps you should wait, but like I said.. it's either wait several years or you
    gain nothing by waiting.

I do not see the big deal with the TV.... you are not changing anything.. you still use your cable box.. but having it run through the pass through... you get the ability to switch to TV without switching inputs....which frees up another input into your
TV.. you get the ability to use voice to pause/play/rewind and not use your remote.. you get the ability to receive and send messages through the XB1 without having to switch inputs.... you can be watching TV and snap other programs or vice versa....

I think a majority of the people on the fence think that by using the XB TV functions... they are getting rid of the set up and their current cable boxes... all the XB1 does is add more to it....
