Is the XBox one Disc drive Failure overblown?

I seem to read a whole lot about Disc drive failures on this forum yet iv'e never experienced one or known someone who had one. How widespread does everyone think this actually is?

Uh my Xbox One is a day one edition and it is still working. I never used the disc drive yet but I heard there have been tons of issues with faulty disc drive (I hope I won't experience that *crosses fingers*). I know for one thing the failure rate is much
lower than the Xbox 360 Pro/Arcade/Elite/Slim

Anyone know the disc drive failure rate for the Xbox One? My Day One died and I am having to send it in. MS seemed to be aware of the issue and even have a place on this site for it. I had two different 360s have disc drive failures and MS even admitted
that there were way more failures than were acceptable for the 360 and I was wondering what the rate is with the One. If it is high i wonder why there hasn't been a big stink about it like the 360. Getting frustrated with sending in my consoles.

 

Not very. If it was, this whole forum would be littered with threads about it. Infact, the whole Internet would be.

You will alway's hear of problems here and there, with millions of consoles sold you're bound to.

 

I think few users had some issues when it first came out, over a year ago, but I'm pretty sure it's all good now.

In every aspect of technology you are bound to have hardware failures. Its inevitable. Some happen soon after launch some months later. I think the Xbox One issues are relatively minor when compared to the RROD.

 

I have to load blu-ray discs a few times to get it to recognize . So I hope mine lasts.

 

Haven't had any issues with my room mates yet...i own the PS4 and Wii-U the X1 is his but thus far all three have been good (minus a software issue that plagued the ps4 for about a month).

 

My only Xb1 problem is that my cat keeps jumping onto it, I take her off and then she's on the PS4. It's driving me insane tbh.

 

My disc drive failed just after purchasing gta 5. I dont own alot of physical games yet it failed after one year. Day one edition. This is not good enough for the amount of money i paid for it MS. Not happy.

 

Mine was starting to fail a few weeks after purchase last Christmas, I called Microsoft and they had me exchange it at a Microsoft store. Its been perfect for almost exactly one year.

 

I can't speak as to how "wide spread" anything is, but I had to send in my broken Xbox One at the beginning of September because of a disk drive failure. I had just got it on November 22nd the year before.

 

It seems like anyone who has posted and had this (Or myself that iv'e known who has had this) either had a Day One edition or a very early launch unit. Which time wise lines right up to when Microsoft admitted to greater than normal disc drive failures
and seems to have fixed it A.S.A.P. I only got mine recently as the X1 was the one console i waited on this generation and mines been fine thus far *knock on wood*. I did however buy the 3 year warranty just in case.

 

I don't know anyone out of the many I know with the X1 to have had this problem. Definitely overblown

 

I got Xbox One at Christmas, and have played everyday.

The disk drive error has happened to me 4-5 times already.
