    Is the reason why many people are randomly disconnecting because of our router model?


    I'm I too far away from my internet router on wired and I think Xbox live lag too much on wired.Tell me what I'm I doing wrong on xbox live.

    Ok heldbowl, I looked into my modem's settings and what I did was:

    1. Forwarded ports that are needed to play Xbox LIVE

    2. I checked my firewall settings and they were set to low.

    I read a forum post on the Comcast forums talking about how certain firmware updates can cause disconnecting problems on some occasions. It is said that version "01.E6.01.22.06" would cause disconnects and that Comcast is recalling that update. On my modem
    it says I have "eMTA & DOCSIS Software Version:01.E6.01.22.12" which I believe might be a newer update I'm not sure but it is still making me disconnect from XBL so is there any way I can revert back to an older firmware update? Or would I need to contact
    my ISP?

    Greetings Lurid!

    Can you try restore your gateway to factory defualts

    Unplug the cable from the WAN port, as well as all cables attached to the LAN ports.

    Locate the physical reset button on your gateway. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Relaese and power off your gateway for a cuple of minutes.

    Plug in the power cord along with the WAN cable and power on your gateway, and wait one minute for it to connect properly.

    Plug in the your computer to a LAN port on your gateway, and reconfigure wirelesss settings (SSID, Security method, passphrase). Also make sure UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is ticked enable.

    Note! If your connectivity method requires an authentication process to your ISP (username & password), make sure you know these credentials, before you restore your gateway to factory defaults.

    Before I continue to do what you said in the list above, will still be able to use the default login after I do a factory reset? Like can i still sign in with the username "admin" and the password "password"

    Hello taidara!

    Before I reset my gateway to its factory defaults, I'm just wondering if it will change the password and username for my WiFi because we have a separate username/password for our WiFi and I just use the default login to go to my gateways settings.

    I think Microsoft should fix the service alert ASAP and I think they're servers are causing the disconnected from xbox live problem for two years.

    I'm having the same problem too. I have the same modem and ISP. It started in late August and ended in early September and now it came back.

    Not sure I want to switch to Sony to play PS3 games and not sure it the same as Microsoft or gave up on online gaming entirely.

    Tried port forwarding and doing some other things and nothing worked. I'm like 99% sure it's just this modem and something related to an update Comcast put out on it. I'm going tomorrow to exchange it. Google the modem model number and xbox and you'll
    see this has been happening since September.
