    Is the reason why many people are randomly disconnecting because of our router model?


    I have been looking through the forums for quite some time now because I have been experiencing many disconnection issues. I have tried everything from clearing cache to redownloading profile but those didn't seem to work. I even moved my router closer to
    me and switched to wired and it didn't seem to do the trick.

    Now, from a little bit of investigation, I have noticed something.

    Every person with this issue uses the same exact router which is the Technicolor TC8305C (Xfinity)

    Now my question is: What should we do about this? Contact our ISPs? Change routers? If that's the case, would I need to pay for a new router?

    If you have the same problem, please post down below about the problem so I can have some sort of assurance that it's not just me having this problem

    Kinnect keeps disconnecting

    Randomly disconnecting from xbox live

    Alright guys, I have a pretty strange problem happening to my xbox 360, and I have no idea on how to fix it so i'm hoping that you guys know how to fix it. For some reason, my xbox has been randomly disconnecting, but for some strange reason it disconnects
    on the 1st minute of every hour, like 1:01, 2:01, 3:01, 4:01, ect. I have no idea on why it does that, but for some reason, after unplugging the router and waiting 1 minute and plugging it back in so many times, it still disconnects randomly. Do you guys
    know any way on how to fix it?

    I have the same one. I'm considering doing the same thing tomorrow Lurid. I'd have to do this in the past and it seems like as long as you provide a legitimate reason they will exchange it no problems. You just have to go to a local Comcast store and
    exchange it and sign out the new one.

    I have the same problem here, I even went to go into my Router/modem and physically make the ports forwarding so as to make sure nothing is wrong. I am feeling a trend with the Technicolor Modems. I called Comcast and made sure everything was OK with the
    internet and even contacted XBL support and went step by step with them and am still being taken off at just the worst times.

    And a further note with the disconnection (as I don't know if it happening with you too) is that I will be kicked from parties and such, then a few seconds to a minute later I am either brought back into the party or just kicked from Live all together.

    Also I would like to state that this is only happening as I am playing online (Destiny, World of Tanks, etc.) and when I watch Youtube it doesn't do a thing I just mind my own business.

    Though one game out of all mine that is playing just fine with all this bull is Minecraft.

    I would like if Xbox could look into the Technicolor Modem/Router and see if it personally is having the issues with contacting Xbox Live and see if there is a way to fix it. (Also as a bit of a side note to rant: since the 1.0.2.3 or whatever update for
    Destiny and the new modem I have been regularly been kicked off at least 15+ times in a span of say 3 hours while playing online games in general(except Minecraft))

    Is there a chance that I connected twice on xbox live on my xbox 360 slim E model.Once on wired and once on wireless.I'm not very happy xbox live user.

    Sorry that I posted on this topic but I cant make a new topic since I already made two useless topic that arent being answer.I very close of canceling my xbox live service due to bullies and haters on xbox live.

    Hello Lurid Pats,

    I have looked into your router a little bit. Unfortunately a permanent fix is unknown, according to what is stated in this link. However, there are a few things that you can check on and try.

    Check to see that your firewall is on the lowest setting and make sure you install the latest firmware. You should also try to forward the network ports for Xbox Live.

    However, my suggestion is that if you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, you should contact your ISP to replace your network device.

    Thanks for the reply heldbowl! I will definitely try to see if those steps can resolve my issues regarding my modem. I do have few questions though:

    1. Is setting your firewall to low dangerous?

    2. Does enabling bridge mode help in this situation? Would it cause my modem to not have wifi? (I have other network devices that run off wifi)

    This is has to be the worse support I get in my entire life of gaming.Xbox live should be shutdown on the xbox 360 and have it only on xbox one.Is there a way to cancel or delete my xbox live gold membership.

    Hello again Lurid Pats,

    Typically, putting your gateway's firewall setting to a low setting should not affect your internet security. As long as all of your computers are using the built-in firewall and are using antivirus software, it won't be any problem. As for Xbox Live, typically
    on most gateways and routers, when you set your firewall settings on to a higher setting, they tend to block the ports that Xbox Live requires to function for the Xbox which will cause connection problems.

    As for enabling bridge mode on your gateway, that sounds like a great idea. Bridging the gateway will turn it into a ordinary modem and therefore it will not act as a router (will not give off wifi). This may fix your disconnection issue at hand. Just remember
    beforehand to turn off the gateway's firewall. You will need a separate router to use after you turn bridge mode on.
