Is the mic jack on the new style controller too shallow for the mic that comes in the new ...

I picked up the Forza bundle a short while ago and been playing just fine with the controller. Last night I opened the mic that was included in the forza bundle and when I tried to plug it into the controller, it wouldn't go all the way in. Almost like
the port on the controller is too shallow. I tried other 3.5mm connectors that I had laying around and both of those stuck out one notch from the controller as well and wouldn't work. I know there should be some resistance in a mic jack to keep it connected,
but I feel like I'm pushing hard enough and it isn't going any further in. I was actually trying to play with a friend who just picked up a new/different xb1 bundle with the new style controller, just not the forza one, and he had the exact same problem.
Any recommendations that doesn't involve buying a 3rd party headset or buying the adapter to get 'what came in the box' to work?

    :)

    Plugging Microphone Into Controller?

I want to plug just a microphone into the XB1 controller. I have both the old style and new style controllers. With the new one, when I plug it in to the 3.5mm jack, the mic is not working. Should it be possible to plug a mic only into it or does it have to be headset?

    Headset is not working

So not long ago i bought a new controller and headset and for a while it worked but then all of a sudden it just stopped working and i had to hold the mic in certain spots in the jack for it to work , then one day it just totally disconnected no matter what
i did. When i plug the mic in it doesnt recognize that it is plugged it and there is a dashed line over the mic in the left connor on the hime screen. Ive tryed numerous things , is my jack in the controller dodgey or brocken? Any suggestions or do i need
a new mic completely or controller.

    Help would be appreciated

    Thanks

Xbox controller headphone jack stopped working

I've bought a new controller and the mic on that one is working, so in a weird way both of my previous two controller's jack has been broken at the same time.

Have I been under a rock or does Microsoft no longer include xbox live headset with new consoles?

no they don't come with one, as all new controllers support virtually any 3.5mm headset with mic including phone headphones with mic.

Blue Yeti mic on Xbox Series X?

I heard it would work if I connect the mic to xbox via usb, and connect the mic to the 3.5mm adapter jack that goes to mic jack and headset jack. And connect that adapter to my controller. Idk if that is true though

    Mic not working

Our xbox controller doesnt have the 3.5 mm jack as shown on sheet. Is this a new controller? We either can use our Mic or hear through headset, but NOT both. Is there a resolution?
