Is the hard disk for my Xbox One X failing?

I want to confirm if my hard disk is really dying before I order a new one. The console is out of warranty period.

Everything was working fine until a few days back when I saw a message about local saved games corrupted or something like that. I was in the Xbox Insider preview (or whatever) program.

It then started giving startup errors (E20XX something) and I managed to get it working by offline update (even that took 4-5 tries).

Now, I am able to boot the Xbox and even play games (Rocket League and Assassin's Creed Odyssey) on it. However, there are a few changes I have noticed that simply won't go away.

• No boot animation. Just a big black screen for 2-3 min and then welcome message.
• Overall very sluggish and things freeze very occasionally. Like going down in a menu 4 steps, it will go to 2 steps, then freeze for 5 seconds, then will go down for the next 2 steps.
• Some of the downloaded games don't have a thumbnail, simply a blank image.
• Installation stopped. Getting this message when trying to download or install from disc. It works for 4-5 min, then stops again. Upon resuming, it starts and then stops again after a few minutes. If I remain persistent, I am able to download and play.
• Games freeze occasionally. Like everything else (going back to the dashboard, navigating around) works, just the game stuck somewhere.
• Unable to access the network settings. It simply doesn't open.

I have already tried the basic troubleshooting steps including hard reset and full power cycle many times, but the issues still remain.

Will the problems go away if I replace the hard disk?

Can I salvage the internal hard disk and use it somewhere else?

Can I simply take out the hard disk, format it on a PC, and insert it back to fix this?
