So the HDMI port on my xbox is broken. I didn't drop my console, didn't spill anything on it, I have sound, and it turns on, plenty of ventilation, I've never had any issues with it before - it really isn't a serious issue in my opinion other than that
i simply cannot play or watch anything because the port doesn't connect. There is no over heating damage or anything like that. It's as if my serpentine belt went out on my car = undrivable without it, very cheap to fix.

I looked closely, there does not seem to be any visible damage but given the fact that the cables I've tested it on work fine with other devices, and both TV's do not work with my Xbox, I narrowed it to a port issue. I was able to navigate without seeing anything
from my home through various tabs, and shut it off via my controller - so its not a software problem or hardware issue going any deeper than the HDMI port.

It probably will need to be opened up and have a new port installed, but I can't see how this would be a $249.00 operation. Is that service price for real? I've had my One X console for less than 2 years and I sold my Xbox One to my brother in law - that
console still works 100% after 5 years. I take great care of my stuff.

I think the $249.00 to get it fixed is a joke, especially considering the fact that I am a big spender on games and movies - every movie I buy is through Microsoft - I am also big on gifting games (but not while my xbox is broken) - it should be made up revenue
in less than a few months and cost of revenue made up in less than a year easy if they just did it for free.

If I'm going to be stuck waiting for the newest console to come out, I'm just going to wait and MS will lose out on probably $1500+ of revenue from myself by the time I pick up Scarlett unless they just fix my console for cheap. That $249.00 price tag is just
not going to happen though. I received the entire console brand new from best buy for less than double that, so a minor fix will not cost me $249.00 + tax.

$45 + tax. That is the price I'm willing to pay, not a dime more. So again - is it negotiable?

    :)

It is infuriating. I am bricked and don't really care to spend the $249 dollars either way. New console or not. I'm just going to wait for scarlett one to come out next year and they can lose me as a customer for over a year. Even then I'm going to
wait on Scarlett because I'm not one to buy the first run consoles for any generation.

If they gave $150 store credit for repair I'd consider doing it for $249 maybe, but just to flat out get it working again and no other incentives- not going to happen. $249 is too much for a tiny port and no other service bundled in. I know what the problem
is. I'm going to hold out easy, Steam can get my video game money for now.

The other problem I have with their policy pricing is that it incentivizes us to instead buy a new xbox rather than send it in to be fixed, and that's not very green/environmentally friendly to me either. Store credit would counter that and help the environment
by making sure people get their console fixed instead of going and buying a new one.

Thank you for your input everybody, but this can be left unresolved for now until they make changes, if ever.

Well thebthing is are you sure its a hardware fault not a cable issue?

Fyi 249 includes a 1year additional warranty so it is well worth it

I don't believe it is negotiable, but you can definitely try. I agree that $249 is too high for that repair, so I'm sorry you are in this situation. It's almost more worth it to look at a good deal at a new console rather than paying that much for a refurbished
one. Black Friday sales, Christmas sales and New Year sales are just around the corner too..

I have tried negotiating with Microsoft because I have sent my Xbox one x back three times because the disk drive stopped working within the warranty. The disk drive went a fourth time and it was no longer in warranty by one day. I tried to negotiating
with them on a reduced price. It did not work. I ended up buying a brand new Xbox One S off of Amazon for $150 instead. I am now just using my Xbox One X as my digital only system.
