Is new gen having problems upstaging last gen?

Rubix, I would honestly say, look at the leap from GTA San Andreas to GTA IV. That is a better comparison in life cycle. Not San Andreas to GTA V, or the leap from GTA IV to GTA V graphically.

This is merely a brush up graphically. It will offer a better looking, familiar experience. Not a new experience.

We will not see the benefits of the 8th gen for a couple years.

You want to talk disappointing in regards to graphics. Madden 15, on 8th Gen looks like 7th Gen. That is a joke.

 

Anyone who thinks things can't get better than they were in GTA V on the 360/PS3 is either playing on a very small TV, or is in for a big treat.

 

I don't think so. Games are being developed for both gens currently in most cases. Wait until games like The Witcher 3 and The Division come out. We'll be singing a different tune then.

 

I love my Xbox One to bits, but I confess that apart from Ryse I haven't really had that "Wow!" reaction that I got when I booted up Call of Duty 2 for the first time.

 

thing for me is i don't expect this huge visual leap i just expect games now to have much more content/larger game worlds and more npcs/random events etc within them worlds ie much more of a living world within the game with a bit higher res looking sharper
running more fluidly etc but its never gonna be an immense jump and its only the first year of release, rome wasn't built in a day! the only time i had that wow moment for visuals was when i finally got a hdtv and said goodbye to scart n the good old big back
tvs, that was a truely wow this looks incredible moment.

Put san andreas in 1080p and i'd be blown away all over again because i could compare the old to the new and see the huge step up

 

The first time I had a wow moment with the X1 is when I first fired up BF4. The first level as soon as you start on the hallway with water was really cool.

 

have to agree with the bf4 tho it did show a good leap for me, it was 64 players for a start, 64 players on a console was a distant dream during the 360, hate small quiet games it was the same reason i played ground war religiously on cod, i prefer more
people.

, Forza did look a lot visually better but with visuals i think its because the large chunk is just progressive small changes so you kinda adapt to the visuals without actually realising it and noticing them as stand out changes, like how it goes dark but
you dont tend to notice till its pitch black out lol the GTAS went from top down to 3d to massive open world, those were pretty huge steps for a game and had very distinctive stand out changes lol

Minecraft xb1 has worlds 36x bigger than last gen faster and bigger draw distance and higher mob limits saving game takes surprise only 1 second compared to last gen. Xbox 360s zoo tycoon has smaller worlds less animals and NO KINECT features due to 360s
hardware and memory limitations. I think some r expecting ps4 or pc graphics. That fact is this gen is better than last gen graphics wise but its also up to game devs as well. As long as im having fun im kk.

 

I'm with Fatalshock8912, I've really had 2 wow moments, the graphics in Ryse, and the amount of zombies in Dead Rising 3.

Now that you mention it OP I think your right.

 

One thing that I'm surprised about that has not been mentioned by anyone yet, is the fact that many cross-generational games lately are being developed with next-gen in mind 1st, with last-gen being developed after the fact (basically they start with the
best graphics and scale it down rather than start low and scale up, so-to-speak, and no, I'm not talking about resolution alone here) or even by an entirely different developer/studio. For this reason, no I don't think last-gen is holding us back (although
it may vary from developer to developer and the methods they use)...

Looking at how neutered the nemesis system may be on the 360/PS3 versions of Shadows of Mordor I can't help but feel that anyone who thinks this just doesn't have a next gen system yet...

It takes a while for devs to get the full power of a new console. Their money maker is still last gen. Gaming technology is reaching a plateau.
