  1. Is My Xbox Series S Repairable?

    Good morning,

I have had several issues with my Xbox Series S ever since I had to manually turn it off when it froze whilst trying to download a mandatory Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) game update back in mid-August.

I spent several days troubleshooting. I attempted the following: clearing alternate MAC address, clearing persistent storage, checking for any pending Xbox and game updates, signing out and into Microsoft profile, loading games without being signed into Microsoft profile, changing Xbox region, full power cycle, disabling instant-on, uninstalling and reinstalling RDR2 (removing Xbox game save data only), running an offline system update via USB connection, and finally soft and hard factory resets.

Until the end of August/ early September, my Xbox Series S was gradually worsening - it (and the synced controller) were slow or failed to respond, games or apps (or Settings) would take too long to start (0x8027025a), and a few times the Xbox Series S shut down without prompting. Then it eventually reached a point where it would consistently fail to fully start up; it kept displaying a system error E200 with some troubleshooting options (four if memory serves). I tried all of those options to no avail.

I sent my Xbox Series S in for repair (externally) in early September and have only recently been able to test it since repair. The system error E200 issue has been solved, but my Xbox unfortunately appears to have reverted to the same problematic behaviours that it was displaying from mid-August. I am having no success in solving these issues (or understanding the main cause(s) for them, besides or in addition to the failed RDR2 update).

I wonder if the reason that my Xbox has reverted to problematic behaviours post-repair is because it has redownloaded all Cloud save data for RDR2, and another game which also started failing to load (Far Cry Primal). I wondered if anyone here knows much about Cloud save data - can this be corrupted, and if removed could it potentially fix all of my Xbox's issues? I am very reluctant to delete both my local and Cloud save data for RDR2, so any other options are welcomed, but I understand that it might be the only possible solution left.

I'm at a loss at what the next best action(s) to take is and I'm wondering if it's even possible to solve all of these issues. I don't want to give up on this console or my RDR2 save files if I can help it because I'm admittedly stubborn (and don't want to regard them as lost causes until I've exhausted all of my options), but I've reached a point where I'm considering either sending my Xbox for repair once more (if possible) or giving up and buying a new console.

Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated!

    :)

Is My Xbox Series S Repairable?

    Hi there,

as far as I am aware a save for a game can become corrupted, but as far as I know it should only have affect on the game itself, it should result in the console (or controller) being slow for any other game or the console.
Do you have any external storage devices connected to the console? Since an external storage device (USB device) can have such affect, disconnecting any usb external storage devices should resolve the issue.

If no external storage devices are connected and you are still experiencing the same issues on the Dashboard or in other games, then you could consider doing a full factory reset to see what happens (Just to be sure, I would advise not to try RDR2 at first, but try a different game to see how that works)
If a factory reset doesn't help then I do advise to contact Xbox Support and explain the issues to see what they advise, could be another repair.

Let it know when there are and results

Is My Xbox Series S Repairable?

Hi there Bilbos welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. Oh my, it seems you have tried everything on your power to fix this. I mean, you could try recovering an older savefile that is not "corrupted".

Recovering saved data depends on whether the console has already synchronized the deleted game to the cloud.

Try to go to a different console if possible (e.g. visiting a friend or neighbour with an Xbox), and sign in with your account. If the game downloads your savegame intact, you can recover it.

If the console hasn't deleted the game from the cloud yet, you can go to My Games and Apps, move to the game tile, and press the Menu button.

Choose to manage the game, and there delete the local save game copy.

If you then start the game, it'll download the save state from the cloud, similar to when you visited your friend/neighbour.

If the savegame, however, is gone in the cloud as well, then there is currently no way to get it back again.
