Is my xbox ready to die?

Hi everyone, for the last 8 months. I have had to factory reset my console every time I want to play on it.

My console is incredibly slow. No thumbnails load on any icon on the dashboard for games, apps or community things. It can take over 40 minutes to sign in or even load up a game or get into the settings menu. When I click any tile on my console, say a game
or app, the most likely thing that happens is an error "Sorry, XXXX took too long to load. Try again" with an error code which normally happens after after 2-3 minutes. Most game when they start to boot up just stay on a black or blue screen and all my backwards
compatible games freeze on the Xbox 360 globe.

Now I have tried hard resetting the console and that does nothing. Historically, I would just factory reset the console and it would work until I turn it off and then all this starts again. Now I have restarted my console 10 times to try and access the settings
menu to completely wipe the console clean but that won't load.

Is there any way to format my console without going into the settings menu? Or does anyone have any suggestions that I could try?

This is the second console I've had that has gone this way so reluctant to spent any more money on them!

Thanks for responding to us. So before accessing the
Troubleshoot screen where it would allow the console reset, the screen was a different color? If so, then it would be best to try the reset then check the color. If it still shows the different colors then I would check the HDMI cables to make sure everything
is plugged in properly.

Never mind, sorted by removing my HDMI and putting it in again. Not sure what that was about! This gives me a way to factory reset more easily and consistently for the future. Cheers!

Hello there,

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. There is a way to get into a troubleshooting screen that bypasses the home screen. You are able to factory reset from this screen. Follow these steps to access the troubleshooting menu :

Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
Press and hold the BIND button (located below the Xbox button on the console), and then press the
Xbox button on the console.
Continue holding the BIND button for 10-15 seconds.
Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the
BIND button after the second power-up tone.
The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

You will have the option to reset your Xbox from here. As for further suggestions, have you tried out this console on a different network other than your home network?

Thanks for the reply. I will try that now. My console is just working through it. Do you know why the hue of my screen has changed? The colour has gone totally Magento in colour?!

I'll reboot again and check my screen settings first.

Still using my "Day One" controller and it does that when the batteries are ready to die. Really helpful in the middle of a game! Lol.
