Is my xbox listening to me?

So somehow water got dumped on my xbox one, and I turned it on not knowing this. After initially experiencing difficulties, e.g. it would run for several minutes and then shut down on its own, I cleaned the water off and placed a fan in front of it to
help it dry out. Now, my xbox will turn off by itself, but only after I've left the room. I've done several timed experiments, one for an hour, two for about twenty minutes and one for forty five minutes. The xbox ran, without flaw, until I left the room.
Me leaving the room is the only common denominator when it shuts off. What's up?

When you do your timed experiments, record the time when you last moved the controller, and when the controller shut itself off.

The console will also start to show a screen-saving thing where it slides in various information about achievements you're about to unlock next etc.

Only from then on will an inactivity timer go off, and turn off the console after a certain amount of time that you can set up in the console's settings.

Also: Do you have a Kinect attached? If so: since Kinect can be set up to sign you in automatically if it detects your face, the console will sign you out if you leave the room, which in turn can immediately start the automatic turn off timer.

If you don't have Kinect, then the Xbox has no means to "see" or "hear" you or otherwise sense you presence or absence. It can only detect if a controller is being moved or turned off.

Hi Omicron,

There may still be some water damage in your console that you may not be aware of thats causing it to shut down for some reason. I suggest you take it in for repairs, to rather be safe than sorry.

If you have a Kinect you might want to remove that from your Xbox.

If not, it's most likely residue water damage on your console, that it dried out doesn't mean components won't be damaged; try getting it to a repair point and get it looked at.

How long after you leave the room does this happen there is a setting that will turn the xbox off after a certain amount of time of no activity.

While playing XBOX Roblox, I sometimes hear people talking TO ME. I'm not in a party or chat, yet people can hear me.

It's freaking me out and it keeps me paranoid at night knowing people can hear me when I don't want them to.
