    Is my controller now defective?

Hello, I'm having a problem with my Xbox 360 controller, a strange one at that:

My controller disconnects at random times in random games. Example of this: today I was playing games like The Orange Box (Team Fortress 2), Sonic All Stars Racing & Modern Warfare 3. My recent game history here will show games I've played today. Why that
matters? Well, it hasn't acting erratically like this until I played Sonic and MW3. At Sonic, it disconnected a couple times during play but hasn't during menu navigation. In shooters like MW3, it's worse; it would disconnect when I would do an action like
shoot or throw a grenade (bumpers)/every couple minutes.

My batteries were fresh and it hasn't disconnected at all during my San Andreas game session (which I've played same day) but mentioned before, at different games at different times/actions.

One more thing I'd like to add, would a bad rechargeable battery pack left dormant on a controller for a while affect the controller's functionality? I had a bad battery pack (wouldn't charge anymore and controller wouldn't function unless cable would be
connected at the time, even then if light was green, controller would still disconnect), which I replaced with the other pack which takes AA batteries now. But still, my controller had disconnected wirelessly at weird times which I think has worsen now. Also,
some plastic or something is chipped off the back of the controller (where the battery pack rests on top of)? Would that be part of the problem too?

Hope this is enough information for assistance Xbox Support, thank you.

    :)

    Is my controller now defective?

I had the random disconnect issue. The controller didn't like my batteries. They were rechargeable that held the charge and they were completely fine in a Wii remote, but for some reason during times of vibrations or at times where there would be interference
(such as a cell phone ringing), it would disconnect.

Try a different brand of batteries. The only part that would matter is the contacts between the battery enclosure and the controller contacts. If you've dropped your controller a million times enough to chip away though, the controller may be biting the
    dust though :S

Weird indeed. My controller doesn't have this problem. Could be a small defect in your particular controller.
