Is my box fried or what?

So the other night we had a short but knarly thunder/lightning storm and after the power went out a few things in the house have quit working. Sad to say my Xbox One was one of them. I've tried troubleshooting, reseting the power supply, by removing the
power cords from the wall, power brick and the box, waited at least two minutes but to no avail, she wont turn one. At least not fully, it'll light up and pretend to turn one but then just turns back off. The light on the power brick switches between white
and orange right after the reset and stays white while shes booting but goes right back to orange when she wants to sleep still. So my question is, is it the power brick/supply or is my box just F'ed? Daddy needs his Titan Fall time!

    :)

How to designate more USB memory space for x-box 360 use after first configuring it

I set up my USB with my X-box first about two years ago, but because my x-box 360 hard drive is fried I am trying to move all of its memory onto my USB hard drive. Unfortunately, in order to do this I need to free up more space on my USB hard drive which
I can't quite figure out how to do. Help Please?

  3. 4 red rings

Okay i'm going to try and explain what happened as best as possible. We had a thunderstorm here tonight, lightning struck and the bright yellow light on the little box that plugs into the back of the xbox started blinking. It also sounded like something
popped in there when the lightning struck. My xbox wouldn't turned on so I tried plugging my xbox into my brothers box and the four red rings showed up. I know everything is plugged in properly I just think that the component that the plug goes into was fried
along with the box. Any suggestions? My brother also tried to turn his on and has 3 red rings. So i'm assuming that the lightning strike hit the house and fried the xbox's.

The power surge may have most likely blown a fuse in the Xbox One's power brick.

The power brick also serves as a surge protector for scenarios like these, so your console should be fine. The power brick, however, will likely need to be replaced.

Get your console's serial number and try to follow the repair process for a replacement power supply here:

  5. Yes, your power brick, if it did it's job during a power surge or even the rare occasion of the main home power supply loosing a 'leg.' It is done for.

Unlike a quality power strip with surge protection. (with a resetable breaker) you can't reset an xbox power brick. They can be repaired but not reset.

MS recommends NOT using any power strips, but knowing what I know. I wouldn't plug in ANYTHING with an electronic board without one. Not a cheap one, but rather a quality one with a resetable breaker built in.

If a Power strip does it's job then it'll trip and cut the power long before an xbox/PS power brick even gets a chance to react.

  6. Obviously you've already found the instructions for resetting your power brick, but since that hasn't worked, your best advice would probably be to follow up on what Internet Expert posted. Good luck and hope you get back up and running soon.

Customers should know to buy surge protector equipment including power boards, for your electrical gadgets (computer, console, washing machine, etc). These may cost you a bit, but it will cost you a lot less (and a lot less hassle) when it comes to repairing
or replacing it when a $30 surge protector would have protected against such damage.

Thing is that the Xbox one power supply does have its own surge protection built in, so they advise plugging it directly into the mains and not using any extension lead or surge protector. Just a question does the power supply still light up?
