    Hi.

    Perhaps anybody can help me here.

    I have bought a xbox360 slim at a Ebay Seller.

    My Problem is I wont get an internet connection with it.

    I have tried everything i found in the FAQs. Nothing helped.

    Could it be possible that my Xbox is banned?

    How can I check it out?

    The Xbox Live test fails with Error Message: the dns server cannot resolve xbox live server names...

    Is my x-box broken? Help?

    A sequential power cycle is the first step in clearing connection problems, and the order and timing of the steps is important to success:

    1) turn off the Xbox and unplug the power supply cord from the back of the Xbox then

    2) unplug power from the router (Some folks have a combination modem-router AKA 'gateway' or only use a modem with no router. If either, skip steps 3 & 6).

    3) unplug power from the modem.

    4) Wait at least 5 minutes then replug the modem/gateway power.

    5) Wait 'til the light on the front of the modem/gateway which says ONLINE, READY, CABLE or DSL is on solid (not flashing), then plug in the router. If you have a gateway instead of a modem and router or a modem with no router, then when that light says
    it's ready, skip to step 7.

    6) Wait until the WiFi light on the router is on; you may not use WiFi, but it's still a good indicator your router is finished booting up.

    7) Plug in and turn on the Xbox. For more background on Ports, see

    If the problem persists, please send us the info we need from

    Is my x-box broken? Help?

    I suggest Resetting the Factory (Network) Settings: Tap the silver Guide button again, go 2 clicks to the right,

    choose Settings, System Settings, Network Settings, then choose your connection (WIRED if Ethernet, otherwise the SSID of your WiFi connection), then Configure Network. Copy down the settings for IP (auto/manual, IP address, subnet mask and gateway) as well
    as DNS (auto/manual, primary DNS server, secondary DNS server), then go one click right to Additional settings. If anything is _not_ blank or Not Set, make a note of those settings as well, then go to the bottom and choose Restore to Factory Defaults and confirm.
    Then power down the console, wait 8 secs or more, power back up and reconnect.

    If you purchased a new XBOX because you believed what MS told you, then you deserve one of the following:

    1) If you purchased a new one, and kept your old one, you should be able to return the new one to Microsoft at Microsoft's cost, and get a full reimbursement, AND they need to allow you to transfer your content back to the original XBOX (usually the transfer
    tool only lets you transfer every 120 days or so).

    2) If you purchased a new one, and SOLD your old one, then they must fully reimburse you on the cost of the new XBOX.

    3) If you didn't purchase a new one, then the offer they provided I think is sufficient.

    I believe this is the case, because they pretty much said that the only way to get back on LIVE is to buy a new one, and it was their mistake.

    They need to OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKE for people that went out and bought a new XBOX.
